It's funny how people say viral like it's a good thing. Viruses have a bad tendancy to kill other living creatures. Now, at least with the BSD license...
Sorry, I'm probably going to get modded down now for moving away from the point... who said the/. system was perfect?;-)
That is mainly false (maybe your american point of view that Europe is backwards?).
But sometimes you have to choose your provider carefully before you start hoping for a service. For example, Free in France and BE in the UK mean unlimited. And although the latter has a "fair usage policy" that isn't available anywhere, after 2 years with them I haven't triggered it yet (and boy do I try!).
Yep, if the Chinese government have 400B USD leftover at the end of the year and they're tired of buying everyone else's debt, I see no wrong in building luxurious council estates. It's their money, they can spend it as they see fit (and that includes a space station and a Mars mission).
It's the People Republic of China. Wether we judge it to be right or wrong, they do it with what they think is their people's best interest at heart.
Meanwhile, all the USA seems able to produce any more is Obama's birth certificate.
Sounds to me like that's all the Americans can afford.
Meanwhile the Chinese government decide they will stop spending its large surplus on American debt and start funding their own space program. Sounds sensible to me. I only wish any country in Europe could afford that...
Well... I know most people will tell me to geek-up and do it myself, but I'm waiting for the HTC-customised version of Gingerbread to hit my Desire Z(*), and it's been a while now. Maybe if it wasn't so much customised it would already be available. So hell yes, go Google on that one!
(* yes, I really wanted that keyboard, and it's a good thing some manufacturer thought about making one. about time too)
In the US, the receivers of the message are also going to pay ten cents. So the author is punishing them, as well.
Someone is seriously doing you people across the pond... Honestly? 10 cts to receive a text? This side of the world, texts are free to receive, even abroad. And most of the plans include unlimited national texts (sending, that is...)
Man! I haven't heard as much Adobe-directed hatred since Steve Jobs' keynote where Flash was blamed for all the miseries of the world! (and that was the first and only time of my life I agreed with him =)
Maybe you're going a bit far about this though. A PDF doesn't grab half your computer's ressources when you open it... Sure, it's yet another file format, but at least it looks just about the same on most architectures and versions of readers/editors. Can't say as much about.doc, or even HTML for that matter.
The app store doesn't generate as much, because of the different set of mind. Google is all about advertising revenue, not direct sales to end-customers. How much did you pay for your 3 versions of Angry Birds on your iPhone? Yet Rovio are probably making way more off ads in the game on Android. Not a fact, just a guess. But since RIO is still free, I'm guessing the business model stands. (Think of it this way: on iPhone, new levels in any of the three = no extra income, but on Android, new levels = loads of ads displayed on user screens => revenue).
Bloody hell! You seem to hate it so much, why do you even bother still posting here?

Hum... wasn't the original quote with something like crabs? or lobsters maybe?
D&C, yep, quite sick...
If I opened my neighbours fridge, I'd start by taking his beers!
And it's not like you're talking to an Anonymous Bast^H^H^H Coward... At least with the sock you know who you're talking to!

No need, they've got all the cash they need, and no debt to hinder their development...
You'd be amazed at what 400B USD of surplus in a state's budget every year can buy...

The funny part is that they think a terrorist would actually request access to take photographs of an oil facility.
Or, I don't know, apply for a federal aircraft pilot license to send a plane smashing into central NY...
OK, I understand the poster's point about being arrested for the wrong reasons, but your logic is skewed.
Habeas Corpus. If you want to sound clever, at least spell it right!
Even their libc is developed inhouse
I thought it was the netbsd libc.
Nothing prevents BSD-licensed code to be closed. Ask Apple!
An SQL statement walks into a bar. He sees 2 tables and asks "May I join you?"
There are only 2 types of languages:
- those people bitch about, and
- those no one ever used

Oh sorry, I didn't mention... I thought you'd seen that leak in the tank!
oops, just double-posted the same kind of comment... =)
But actually, this is understandable. Isn't that place the home of Verizon? HAHAHAHA

Heard of them recently? Gone really quiet all of a sudden...
Does that mean that Nokia has turned into 1980s IBM and opted for the Bill Gates solution that's going to rule the world in 20 years time?

There is somewhere a closed tracker of audiophiles where EAC is the rule.
However, there seems to be a sort of acceptance that rubyripper is the best alternative on Linux (if Wine won't cooperate, that is).
Man, you must make the hard-drive industry happy!
"We, at Western Digital, rip our music in Flac, Ogg, MP3 v0, v2, 128kbps, 192kbps 256kbps, 320kbps, aac and also keep the WAV files just in case"
