Ummm, i have to admit that one day i got bored, and felt like living on the edge. Lo and behold a windows 2000 CD fell from the sky into my lap, so i did take this evil thing, and didst install it over the top of windows98'eth. (And it was so that when Diablo2 was release-ed, that windows waseth installedeth.) And strangly it seemed, as if in a dream state, that after 14 crashes, 1 HDD failereth, and many other problems the small gremlin things that weighedted themselves at about 4MB each, didst have to fitteth themselves down a 33.6 pipeline, that the MBR was left unscathed, and linux could be bootedeth into. Alas it was not to last for after 2 days the majik square that didst hold the penguin, didst begin to smoke.:-(
I was under the impression that open source was a way or release not nessesarily development.
By this i mean that the ideoloy behind open source is that the source is available to add/fix/do whatever to a system. So theoretically a trusted system could be open source, the source need only be released.
Would ssh be considered a trusted system by this person, or is this a trusted service instead, and where does that leave OpenSSH in that particular schema of things.
Now that these things are hacked, all we need is someone to put a network card in one, and have some sweet CD-R recording of stuff that we want archived to my little linux box:)
Are these things legal, so to speak, i mean are you allowed to record stuff from the TV Networks (i am talking technically, not rights &tc, just plain and simple law).:-).
I dont mean in terms of distrobution size, i mean in terms of processing power required and memory gobbled.
Last time i used KDE i found that it was a unresponsive as compared to say twm (bad comparision, as KDE has the bars at the top and bottom &tc [perhaps i should say more features]). But i felt as a WM it was just to heavy for me to use comfortably (Celeron333 +192MB RAM) I hope that as they have progressed towards 2.0 that they have tweaked it a little.
I know that i have the source and all that, but really i wouldn't know what to do with that source.
Has open source turned into the masses whining for what they want and the few (big few) who impliment it?
What is the wave length of the light used in this laser?
It would look pretty funky in fog with all these criss crossed laser "trails" in the sky. Or is it more broad band than that?

ID software are good at making FPS. What are they going to release that is not a FPS? A flight sim? Doom, DoomII, Quake, QuakeII, Q3Arena, why break the tradition.? FPS are tuppny a dreyload nowdays., so are RTS. but they SELL.
Well i want one of thise Voodoo5 - 6000's, they sound really really sweet.
Was there not a virus embeded into one of the early distros of linux, or one of the games (one of the tetris like clones) ages and ages ago (pre 1996) Was this not a non event
I can understand that a virus can affect files that it has permission to affect, and that if it can break system secucurity it can do what it likes, but a virus to get root, is it not going to be huge? Current (antivirus) security for me (when done) is: Only download from trusted sites and mirrors, check the checksum on D/L file before running/compiling. Always use a non admin acccount (i dont usually do, as my systems are never on the HDD long enogh) boring -- long story Backup all work -- REGULARLY DONE to CD
A virus that can alster kernel code, so how long will that last as a viable virus? A patch to the source tree so that how/where the virus entered does not exist, reinstall from clean CD, upgrade kernel *POOF* problem gone. (for a while) Big deal, IMNSHO the unix file security is secure enough as long as the kernel, and SUID progs are secure enough, that the WHOLE system should not really have problems.
Who really cares if a few ^Lusers lose/corrupt a few files through stupidity?
Primary Use Perfect She/he finder & beeper, i mean no clumsy intros and you get to find someone who is interested in geek toys *YAY*
SECONDARY & BY FAR MORE IMPORTANT USE! A tiny part of a beowulf cluster, with little links to the main machine on street corners, i mean imagine the worlds "fastest supercomputer" made up of all the lonely ppl in the world.

If this library is broken would that in itself pose a risk?
.plan = NULL;
How much lag in system time would such a library add? (on a low end system)in real terms ie: my busy little 486 that runs too many services
Why bother using something that you cant fix the buffer overflow in?
Why does my http:// in my sig not work. Wahhhhhh
