And that continues until the end. There are things that shouldn't be thought this way. Whole high school math for example. But at that point, its too late to switch. Kids, all of whom have never learned the reasons behind math would just flunk... So its stretched out a little bit more and those of us who go to study science subjects in uni are then in for a shock.
I had a different impairment. I have serious problems remembering things I don't understand. Formulas that didn't make sense were forgotten and doing anything without understanding was... unpleasant to the point of rebellion. So I tried to understand as much as I could. If I needed a formula I had forgotten, I usually managed to construct it from vague memories and logical connections and test it mid exams. Understanding math was made surprisingly hard at times. For example, by pure accident I saw an old hand drawn picture with the geometric proof if the Pythagorean Theorem. I was one amazed ninth grader. Why wasn't that picture in the schoolbooks? Not all math can be visually proofed, but why on earth is the proof that can be represented in the single picture hidden away?
May be an education that filters people by their apparent capacity is the answer... Or maybe its fine as it and those of us that care about the why-s can manage by educating ourselves.

A small word of warning to Comodo users - it WILL mess with your GIMP install and prevent it from loading its plug-ins. If you cant open jpg files with GIMP and you have Comodo installed, go tell it to behave.

Fortunately, my parents never demanded great grades, passing was enough. So I learned for understanding, not the grades. Largely without cheating, but with understanding I could keep a steady B level going easy in most subjects in high-school and a decent C level in university. I did cheat on some rare occasions, but I never copied whole solution, just a formula I may have forgotten or some other similar bit of information so teachers who used test with seating, birth date or any other random environmental parameter never bothered me.
As a one-time sixth-grader that got smacked over the head with the whole chair Id like to say that, pulling the leg off really isn't necessary for effective beating.
Now some guy is going to ban their kids from texting and internet because god forbid it might cause them to have sex. Correlation and causation are the same thing right? Hint: No. People who send 100 text messages a day are just hyper social. No wonder they end up socializing in someone else's bed a bit sooner than kids that don't feel the need to tell others what they feel, think or do 100 times a day.
Internet, unlike TV is bidirectional. And a transmitter loud enough for the old TV base station, that covers hundreds of km, to hear at each home just doesn't make sense... It takes a lot of energy to power for example...
Softmod is easy peasy on wii. I have one of those new fancy black wii-s without dvd player hardware. All you need is a specific game, a 1 or 2 GB SD card and about 1 hour of your time. Playing one level of the said rather lame game was the most painful part of it. I personally did it to have the homebrew media player and a better browser on the main device hooked up to my projector. It's a computing device I own, anyone telling me what I can or cant install on it can take a hike.
oh rly1? 4chan in its own way is a botnet yes, but its a botnet of humans with 4chan's/b/ as its command server. And if you think its not big enough to dwarf any botnet, think again. The reason you wont see a usual for profit botnet engaged in this is that there is no profit to be made.

Crimes? You really do not have clue, do you? DDoS as done by 4chan isn't hacking. Not even close. It's an internet equivalent of bunch of people showing at your place waving signs that they don't like you much for whatever. Some of them just show up to see what the rest are doing and if it is working. They stay on public property, so you cant have them arrested for that either. Extortion is illegal, organizing a ddos attack from a botnet is illegal. Just showing up and clogging the place? Good luck prosecuting anyone on that.
Linux is live and well, hoping platforms and claiming ever larger areas of the corpse of the soon mythical desktop. Gamers go to consoles. Netbooks don't have the power for them anyway. Nobody really buys a desktop unless they want a sort of customizable general purpose console or a machine to do a specific task. The only place where the desktop way of life still has refuge are the high end heavy laptops and office workstations. And even that market is thining.
And that was my point. Telling someone what needs to be changed in GUI is a lot more painful than telling someone to just find line in a file, alter it and save. IT gets even worse, if the person helped has a totally different UI language. My oldest sister has windows in Finnish, because she lives in Finland. I had to help her once. You don't. You need only a fraction of that to get the space plants and mining stations built, supplied and manned. After that, nothing but people and information is shuttled. The rest is built in space. This needs to happen anyway, if we are to venture off from this planet. We need to live off the space. Tap into its energy and material resources and recycle and synthesize what space does not offer.

There is often a round of administering needed once she has carelessly clicked the upgrade to next release button when I'm not around. Otherwise there's less trouble with her laptop than any other running windows and she has no problems using as a rule. And even if she has, I can help her out without much hassle by pasting back and forth some text in MSN.
Because we both are usually in networks that are unreachable from outside. Its a laptop that moves a round after all. For my aunts desktop I set up both sshd and VNC she can start with a click from desktop so I could see what she was having trouble with.

The talk-throughs Ive had to do for windows users have been HORRIBLE experiences. Ive managed to talk her through things I wouldn't even dream of doing on windows including building a wireless driver from source, installing 3rd party kernel and modifying grub config.
