You're begging the question. You're assuming that those 'whacked out' theories aren't true, but that is exactly what we need to investigate. Theories are theories, no matter who puts them forward.

Shouldn't we focus on the fact that without computers, even MORE people would die? This article seems to make the conjecture that somehow these instruments are worthless, but it appears the writer of it sucks at math as well.

    # ppl who would die without computers -MINUS- # ppl who die with computers = # of lives SAVED by computers.

That second # isn't bad, it was already there before computers came along!

I think you make the sore assumption that "the way language is built" is the proper or best structure for communication. I believe you take for granted that communication is a constantly changing environment, with new innovations like those in the scientific community. So why not let the marketplace of ideas settle on the best way to 'facilitate reception of information'?

  11. Logical Fallacy time on How To Prove Someone Is Female? · · Score: 1

This is a simple case of "Missing the Point". This occurrence is clearly an argument that we shouldn't have ANY sexism anywhere. period. If there were a law that said "No one can have abortions", instead of "No woman can have an abortion", then anyone who claims to be male who wants to have an abortion can't have one. Whereas, a law that specifies and discriminates against one gender or another cannot have this kind of power. Separating men and women on any empirical basis has almost no use whatsoever.
