  1. From my experience in theaters... on Cell-Phone Wars · · Score: 0, Troll

I can't say that I can recall ever hearing an annoying cell phone ring while watching a movie. Or, any cell phone ring for that matter.

I do however think someone needs to invent a loudly talking group of obnoxious black people jammer. Or, maybe just a "Please make sure that your black people are switched to silent or turned off" courtesy message at the beginning. Seems to work for the cell phones.

I'm using a Denon AVR-1600 (now discontinued) and klisch speakers. Very satisified. When you're buying the equipment watch out for grey market merchndise. Its sold by non-certified dealers and can be damaged. Also most high end equipment companies won't honor your warranty without a reciept from a authorized dealer.

  3. What about muscle and tendon damage? on Gas-Powered Shoes? · · Score: 1

What concerns me is what the effect would be if a piston fired when your weight was not over the foot that was firing. It seems quite likely that your leg would be shot up with a great force, as the firing boot would be expecting to have the weight of your entire body over it. Damage to leg muscles and the hamstring tendon seems possible. Maybe there would be some sensor to determine the force being applied to the sole of the boot and adjust the boost accordingly?

I have telocity 784K SDSL also. Static IP. $49 a month. I had 3 days of downtime related to the router problems in chicage, but other then that I've had no problems at all. Speed is great, but pings are a little on the slow side, but still useable for gaming and pine over telnet. When I did call support during my downtime, wait times were about an hour, and the level one techs were only trained in basic stuff, and could only have you change settings on your comptuer. When I asked for a level 2 tech, "they are all in training this week." Installation took about 4 weeks, and was much easier then I had expected with all the horror stories on dslreports. They even ghanged my install date from the original one.

  5. Internal modem on ISA or serial? on Flat Panel Linux Box for $99? · · Score: 2

I'm wondering if the internal modem is a serial device working through a UART on the board, or if it is on an ISA(possibly PCI) bus, like a normal internal modem.
If the later is the case, it should only be a matter of a little solder work to get a normal ethernet NIC in there.
