Unions are a good thing if you belong to one. However if you are unemployed or a consumer they are the worst kind of evil. Every one is employable at the market wage. Unions destroy the market wage by artificially inflating it. Higher wages mean higher prices which hurts the consumer (read: non union workers). If you don't like your job, leave. If you don't make enough money, get another job or learn a new trade. I am 23 years old and I have had almost 20 jobs. Learning something new is easy. The last 10 jobs I've had have paid over $10 an hour the last 5 jobs have paid over $15 an hour and the job I have now pays $30 an hour.. in the next 6 months I'll double that. Being in a union is as bad as collecting welfare! When I worked in a paper mill for a while (non-union) the union guys were lazy, bitchy and ungrateful. Myself and 5 other non-union guys were threatened with bodily harm daily and worked harder than anyone else.
No kidding! I like to fill in all the closed letters... I go through and fill in all the 'o' then the 'd' etc.. it usually takes an entire lecture to do a page, cause I like to be neat about it. I also like to erase entire paragraphs and fill in my own text.. I know who ever buys my used economics books is at least entertained for a while.

So you advocate for sporting venues to just "turn over" profits to education as opposed to spreading the wealth accross the people who drive the profit? maybe if education was privatized you would see teachers salaries go up on its own... maybe if teaching wasn't the "cop out" degree at most universities the quality would go up.. dont blame athelets for our stupid government and universities putting actual education last on the list of priorities.. I'd pay $200 to see drew bledsoe in the Super Bowl before I'd give 95% of the teachers I've had in the past $1.

You cant get much worse than coal for area of destruction! The fallout from coal plants is global. Also, the actual rate of failure is very low for nuclear power. I would have a nuke plant in my back yard WAY before I would have coal.. solar is nice, but it is still the most expensive way to generate electricity next to maybe 1000's of hampsters running in little wheels...
