I think in the next 20 years as trade zones evolve we will see the union of trade zones until there is true free world trade. Then in our lifetimes we may see the start of a common world government.
And no doubt all of our 'sell to the lowest common denominator' tabloids (Daily Mail, The Sun, etc) will be calling for less integration with "planet earth"... We don't want all those pesky earthlings invading our country, taking our jobs, women and beer do we?

As far as I can remember, the 64k deal is around £5 per month on top what you're paying for your TV/Phone package. Not a bad deal considering my ISP, BTInternet (one of the worst in the country btw), charges £14.99 for 24/7 'free' dialup with a 2 hour cut off.
I would go for DSL or cable but it's not available in my area yet, so I'm stuck with the blistering speeds of my poor little 56k modem. *sniff*

! I have a friend in Britain considering getting "broadband" from NTL (his cable company), which I find quite amusing as they're only offering 64 kbs... that might be broadband technology, but come on!
While I have to agree with you about the shocking state of broadband here in the UK, your information is incorrect. NTL offer either 512k or 64k downstream. The 512k is either 128k or 256k upstream, and presumably the 64k option allows 64k upstream.
Go to the NTL website for more details, although they're very slow on the updates so the information there might not be the same as was given to me by an NTL engineer earlier today;)
Absolutely agree with you. When MS integrate IE with Windows it's an evil conspiracy.
When mozilla (bloat), Star Office (mega bloat) and Nautilus (super duper mega happy shiny bloat) merge into one huge pile of steaming bloat it's seen as a good thing. Hahahaha keep it up guys this is really funny.. Soon you'll need a dual Athlon system just to send an email..
I set up a freeserve account for my mother to use with a PC she bought recently. Now freeserve allow unlimited addresses per 'domain'. So If her 'domain' was spam-me.freeserve.co.uk she would recieve mail sent to *.spam-me.freeserve.co.uk.
Within days of opening the account, and not even having used it at all, she had received FOUR pieces of spam. sent to 'addresses such as 'fred@spam-me.freeserve.co.uk' and 'mark@spam-me.freeserve.co.uk'. It seems that freeserve sell addresses as soon as they are opened.

Far from being irrelevant, it's actually the first step on the road to overcoming that fact.
