    Where can geothermal work other than Yellowstone and Iceland? Are you sure that the two most recent eruptions in Iceland couldn't be tied to geothermal power?

    The problem in the region being spoken of here is that if you build like that, insulation becomes an issue. They build into the ground to get the earthen insulation due to the very cold winters.

    Maryland gets the occasional hurricane, but it is rather rare, and most of the state is unaffected. I have heard of tornadoes, but they are also rare, and don't generally do much damage.

    I read what he wrote as more of suggesting more dykes, just using the wrong word. He means the flood control along the banks, not blocking the river.

    When you have a choice on the iPhone, it will mean you can run Firefox, Chrome or Opera. Not having a choice of no Safari is not having a choice at all. Even on the Mac OS machines, you cannot remove Safari, it will actually re install with the patches, but at least you can run something different.

    I have Aspergers, and it most definitely does not include a lack of morals or ethics. It is the inability to properly relate to others, a lack of empathy, an inability to understand other's emotional states.

    (my understanding is that molten salt reactors essentially shut themselves down should such catastrophe strike).

    Your understanding is accurate, as there wasn't just 1 nuclear power station hit, there were several in the same area that were hit but had successfully scrammed, and suffered no damage.

    Except quite commonly those recordings disappear when there is possible evidence that the officer did something wrong. I am having trouble finding references to this, but I know I have seen stories about it.

    Or quite possibly the security people informed the management about the problems and asked for budget to fix and were told no. I am guessing not many people saying they were at fault actually work for corporations...

    I always liked the idea of Molly's eye implants in Nueromancer better. Implant a piece of glass over your eyes that contains light amp, IR, sunglasses, maybe millimeter wave radar, and a display. Then have it connect wirelessly to a portable computer. This is a bit of a stretch from what Molly had, but it wasn't much more to add.

    Which works with US moneys too. When you wash your clothes, they don't turn into pulp, so when you wash the cotton money it doesn't either.

    That doesn't require a corrupt country, many countries make you pay money to get in or leave...it is part of doing business. Now, when you do business in the middle east, and people literally ask you for a bribe, how do you bill the government for that money?
