    They really should. Relying on a business that their competitors have even larger contracts with opens them up to taking damage from bribery, like if Nvidia were to pay TSMC a little extra for a bigger chunk of the 40nm silicon (assuming this isn't happening already!). Turning production to Globalfoundries could help them avoid such an issue.

    I dunno about that. Intel was found to have broken laws in Europe and they employ quite a few people over there. Perhaps it is possible that breaking the law can cause charges to be brought against you. Who knows?

    Good thing patent laws weren't around (or as ridiculous) when the various inventions leading up to today's technology happened. It would really cripple a lot of industries if we all had to pay royalties on the wheel, metallurgy, and sliced bread.

    He's not saying 25% of the market is people using an NVidia GPU to run PhysX. He's talking about ATI having a sizeable chunk of the GPU market and saying making your physics PhysX-exclusive means you've spend all that effort and still missed a large chunk of the market.

    I thought having the internet and IT as a whole attempting to operate in one language was, in the big picture, a benefit to IT. Even something as simple as like making URLs with non-western characters could build up a segregation of the internet that we were so close to conquering. Not to mention the accompanying craploads of URL spoofing fraud that will inevitably come as a direct result...

    I am honestly torn on this issue. On one hand, I feel the news agencies need to adapt their business model. On the other hand, if news agencies decide that news is unprofitable and just stop doing it, most of our news will come from a source that has no need to profit: the government. That isn't to say that for-profit news organizations don't use the news as a means to propagandize, but I know what governments like do when they are the only voice. Can anyone lend me some peace of mind here?

    It's a dangerous place to be when governments tell people what they can and can't communicate and how they may or may not communicate that information. Every other industry adapts to market conditions except the content industries. All they do is lobby governments so that they can maintain their business model and not go the way of the wagon wheel makers.

    I would love to see every person suspected of copyright infringement and brought to trial be charged with stealing (theft). These copyright holders and copyright protection organizations who keep up this mantra of copyright infringement = theft should put their money where their mouth is.
