Ugh, don't I know. Why did they leave out so much support? I have 3 video cards that are all ATI or 3dfx (argh!) It looks that 4.0.0 was released before it should have been, it was a step backwards in compatibility. Come on XFree86, make us happy! --
It's the same idea -- I pay for programming, but I can't see the content I'm paying for until the ads are over or until a push a button (to close the ad, or in the case of TV, change the channel). Would you get away with suing a cable company on these grounds? I doubt it. AOL has smart enough lawyers to bring up this fact, and then make themselves look like good guys by showing how you can turn off the ads altogether, something you can't do with cable. Just my 2 cents. --
Uhmm... BSD *is* mainstream. Linux just happens to get all the media coverage. Ever wonder what sites like Yahoo!, Hotmail, eBay, run? Why it's FreeBSD! Oh my god, it's mainstream! Linux is slow compared to *BSD, for the mere fact that *BSD has more code maturity. Hell, NT is about on par with Linux for performance but *BSD smokes them (AIX and Solaris around the top of the study I saw, they didn't test my favorite FreeBSD, but it's up there). You Linux people need to stop thinking Linux is the be all and end all, it needs to catch up with BSD in alot of areas first. However, to be fair, I must say for software compatibility Linux is out in front (though FreeBSD's linux emulation levels it out). A *BSD beats Linux in all other areas, NetBSD for hardware, OpenBSD for security, and FreeBSD for performance. Read up next time.
(I know some Linux-fanatic moderator is gonna mod me down for this, but I refuse to post anonymously) --
We actually have something similar at school. In fact, I have a copy of the plans somewhere. All you need is a piece of plywood, a tarp, and duct tape and the ability to cut holes. Oh, and the motor out of a shop vac. If I get around to it I'll put them up on a website. They're really fun, and but hard to control. I was going to try to modify the plans to add some sort of fan propeller. We'll see. --

iCraveTV To Relaunch

I'll do you one better, I live in a city with 26,000 people, and we have _3_ high speed internet companies here. We've still to see Sympatico HSE or @HOME. We have two companies offering cable service, with limited bandwidth, but the DSL company is the shit. RADSL 7Mbit down, 1Mbit up max, and they GUARANTEE 3Mbit of downstream. On those kind of connections it's more likely this company won't see profit for the mere fact that to produce an image of quality and size needed to attract customers they'll break their bank accounts on the backbone. I don't think I know anyone still on dialup, it's actually cheaper to buy Cable/DSL than to get a phone line/dialup account. The cable is a mere $10 more than the dialup account alone. We're just starting to see the telecommunications competition here. Satellite, Digital Cable, we're getting a second local service provider for telephone (like I said, I live in a city with 26,000 or so people). iCrave TV simply can't compete when we already have Satellite/Cable providers competing for the same market with superior technology. They're going to go under. --
I'm a devout Intel follower, I can't help it. But this secenario gives me hope. Hope for a BSD operating system with a simple interface where I can still use a command shell, and run all my favorite programs (Diablo II for MacOS X, make it happen Blizzard! =). This sounds like a dream to me, Intel, BSD, Nice GUI, favorite programs all rolled into one. Breaking up Microsoft is a Win-Win situation (unless you're microsoft, then no one cares about you anyway). --

Here here! Finally another sensible person. We have the same deal in Canada, no guns, little crime. (no comlumbines either)
It's great, I don't live with the fact that that person I just had an argument with may have a 357 magnum in their belt ready to blow my head off.
Wouldn't trade it for the world!
