There is no such thing as full redundancy in today's internet. In fact there never was, and there probably never will be. Eventually you will get down to a single line (in most situations), and if that goes down, you're screwed.
And personally, I can't ever recall beeing disconnected from a nodes because of a router(s) going down inbetween.
I think the internet sports the best network design to date; and that's a good thing, because if it wasn't, I probably wouldn't be posting this message right now.:)
Its always fun to get launched into space at a high velocity.
And on a personal note, I think it would be more exciting to get launched into space not in a rocket, but by a very large sling-shot device. I'm not sure why, its just that there's something about that picture that cracks me up.
But really that is my story too, almost exactly. I just don't need windows 98 anymore, and if I do need it I can always just walk over to the other room and use it on the other computer;)
Boy did it feel good to format that partition, now I have 2.6 more gigs for porn!
...and I'll say it again. Microsoft Windows XP is a patronizing operating system. The interface in patronizing, the look and feel, the organization; even the wording of dialog boxes are patronizing.
"If you click this big red button that says 'power off computer' you might lose any saved settings in your programs, are you SURE you want to turn off your computer?"
Jesus! Software like this makes me feel stupid and powerless when I use it!
Say it with me now, "No more automation! No more wizards! Down with little colorful icons!!!"
Sheesh, I'm gunna go use vi or recompile my kernel now...
...because then all the people would be relying on one GPS system, if that goes out everone is screwed. Its like having everyone in the world terminal into one big computer, its not very smart.
And what about people with vintage cars? I'm sure that they don't want to install the governor systems into their prize possessions.
And what about people that take out the systems from their cars, and the people that build little GPS emitters to fool the system? The list goes on...
Personally I think it is a stupid idea with too many ways to cheat the system; it won't work, it won't be implemented. Everyone go home now, nothing to see here.:)
Tell me about it... people put down RH7 because it was buggy (don't get me wrong it was) but it was also the best looking distro at the time, IMO had (and still has) the best installer, plus all those neato RH utilities like sndconfig and Xconfigurator.
With a little work to get all the updates, I've gotten my RH7 system to just about where I want it, rock stable, decently secure, and damn nice looking, hell, who needs W2K's semi slick looks when you've got ximian!
Of every distro I've ever installed RedHat always seemed to be put together the best; and you can't diss it for being more user friendly, because who says operating a computer has to be difficult?
"Linux also lacks some key features that you'd want for a data center such as hot swappable CPUs and memory"
Personally, I do not see how they can even bring up the argument of "Linux doesn't support feature x or y, and because of that you are at a loss." In reality it is completely reverse.
If Linux doesn't have support feature x or y you can (provided you have the programming skills) give Linux that ability or feature. With any closed source software you are at the mercy of the developers for features, bugfixes, etc.
Linux has its problems, Windows has its problems; but with Linux you can meet those problems head on, sadly the same cannot be said for Windows.
I strongely believe that HTML is a great first step for a young programmer, because of the fact that is it simple and it gives big results fast. Even though HTML isn't a real programming language Javascript always seem to come into play really fast for a young Hypertext Markuper.
After that Perl, PHP, etc can be introduced. The point is that web programming gives fast graphical results that kids crave. And learning PHP and/or Perl is good IMO because I feel that every good programmer should know at least a few C-like programming languages.
Hell, after that teach them SQL and they are basically ready to go out and get a job!
I guess the way I feel about it is that teaching a kid Logo is nice, but is he/she really going to use it later on?

Oh, and if you are the impatient type and just want to see what the game looks like head over to here.

It's availiable for Win32 and Linux.
You can find more information about Tribes 2 here, here, and more about Linux Tribes here.

You said it all man... I'm touched.

...but the real question is:
How many computers like to take it in the serial port?

Actually, a crying monkey in a VW trading stocks and talking on a cellphone while sipping on a cold pepsi would be a little closer.
Either that or Bob Dole doing the "WASSSSUPPP?!?" with a cold Bud in his hand.
