I'm sorry, but how does this work?
Is google somehow legally obligated to, despite, as far as I know, not operating in Australia? Or will google simply be censored if they don't comply?
I share your concern, but I really don't think this will happen unless major labels are attempting to sell to this market through other means.
Besides... it wouldn't be enforceable. People would just store their data by more unconventional means (by putting it on cell phones, for example).
In the worst possible scenario, for the time where we live in a horrid dystopia in which the only form of storage for users is "the cloud", we still have public key cryptography. It still sucks for those with no internet though.
Wiretapping is against the law and should not be allowed on your line without a warrant. I quote from the fourth amendment
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
That paper did get published in a smaller journal, or something, right?

>A diploma is worthless if you can't think for yourself, but this isn't something that can be taught, apparently.

I sync via SFTP. You could also sync via dropbox, google drive, or one of the other million things keepass has extensions for.

Might using EPROM's be a good compromise?
Windows isn't free though...
I have a similar impression. My idea of computer science, is that it's not computer science until you need to read an algorithm book.
Is there a mirror of that javascript anywhere? I'd really like to look at it.
