I have actually written 2 teleplays (for a very failed TV series, it never got off the ground). The general rule is one page per minute. Now, depending on the writer, you could have someone go into every shot type, camera angle, facial expressions, and so on. Even so it would be hard to get a page per minute on Duel. I have to look and see if the script is on line now, you got me curious.
I remember discovering that a number of movies that had major impacts on me growing up were written by the same person, ( Trilogy of Terror, Duel, The Omega Man) and wondering why I hadn't heard his name before. I had nightmares about that little idol doll for weeks.
What if Donald Trump bought the new FOX Foxconn conglomerate, but then realized it was a big mess, and got rid of it with the phrase, "You're fired FOXFirefoxconn!"
My first real programming job was on a VAX system. The file system and scripting language were so extensive we were able to use them to create a working configuration control system for our source code. DOS was a toy operating system by comparison.
The larger issue is that people who do own cars and don't mind cleaning vomit will be doing this (if it is legal) and this will decrease the need for people to own cars. Rush hour will always be a problem, but at other times, every town will have a lot of potential taxis.
Why should my car waste its time in my garage when it can make some extra money on the side as a taxi? I can call it back whenever I want to use it myself.
It's not so much torture, but arrest. The government could compel you to answer questions and simply arrest you if you refuse. If you choose to lie, it could keep asking you questions until they trip you up in a lie and arrest you for that.
If there was no 5th amendment, no one would want to go under oath because it would be too dangerous. Once under oath, the government could compel you, under threat of arrest, to answer any question that might incriminate you. You could lie, of course, but they could keep asking questions that would trip you up. The court could trap someone by requiring them to testify at someone else's trial and then ask them questions that will incriminate them. There would be no end to how the government could legally harass you.
Let's say there's no 5th amendment. And let's say person A is arrested for murder. Person A is on trial and is put on the stand. The prosecutor asks person A a question. Person A stays quiet. Person A is judged not guilty of murder, but arrested for contempt of court for not answering the prosecutor's questions.
As much as I love PK Dick's writing, Blade Runner has very little to do with his book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. The only movie that I know of that stayed close to one of his books is A Scanner Darkly. The greatness of Blade Runner was a happy convergence of talent from multiple people. In all likelihood, the sequel will be an abomination.
AU is fairly common when discussing distances within a solar system. If you play Eve Online it is a unit of measure you are familiar with. If the asteroid was tree shaped it would be really familiar to an Eve player.
I tried to write a Dungeons and Dragons game on the TRS-80 at our high school. I quickly lost track of all the GOTOs. Thus began my lifelong hatred of BASIC.
That's why they put the word "fail" in safety quotes, and said they "speculated" that it failed. They were just thinking out loud and speculating on a hypothesis.
The goal of the Media Corporations (MCs) is to not allow ANY digitizable media to be experienced by any consumer without them knowing about it an monetizing it. If they get their way, the only way consumers will experience media is while connected to the internet. Thus they will HAMMER the consumer with a multitude of micro-payments. This is known as the MC Hammer strategy. (and yes, they have to pay MC Hammer a penny every time they use the name, otherwise they would be hypocrites.)
There is nothing wrong with sharing personal information if a person desire to do so, what is wrong is the exploitation of them. This is what we should be enraged about.
There is something wrong about sharing personal information with people who will obviously exploit it, and when you share personal information on the internet you are sharing it with everyone, which includes the exploiters. I do agree that we should also be enraged about the exploiters as well, and squash them when legally possible, but in a free society you will find a minority of people who take freedom as a license to be scum.

I guess that would be me

You mistake idealism with a tolerance to vomit stains.

Bitcoin is the Boxxy of Slashdot.
I'm just trying to image what the movie would have been like if they had included Deckard's pet goat.

It will only be good if they make it darker and edgier.

Only if it also involves a squirrel, a bikini model, and a trebuchet.

It's not Kessler Syndrome yet, but we are moving toward a situation where it can start.
I think it has started.

I've always wondered why they changed the color scheme from TOS. Was it because Patrick Stewart decided he looked better in red?
Neurologically speaking, revenge actually produces a pleasant chemical payoff when achieved.
A pleasant chemical payoff is best served cold.
I know you're trying to cheer me up, but I'm still sad.
