This is the standard Anglo approach to the problem. Present a false black and white argument instead of the actual argument, and then present an ultimatum.
Most European cultures including Spain do not have such a culture. Instead, they would likely prefer to negotiate with google on the issue. Google instead chooses to openly extort the country by offering them only two choices which you suggest.

I suspect they get to pull this once, maybe twice, after which EU will offer them a choice. Work with EU regulators and withing EU law or leave world's single biggest market.

I would like this school of thought applied to criminal cases. It's illegal to _____ but whoever (prosecutor , judge , witness , surveillance camera owner, everyone ) makes you feel bad or kill yourself is a criminal.

I don't want machines rights . I don't even want animal rights. What i would like intelligent being rights (everything else is resources). Now please help me get a definition for intelligent beings so that it protects us (humans as a specie) an everything else that can be inteligent (aliens , inteligent robots maybe , mutants , etc. , etc.).
Sure by current definitions and understanding a rock ain't life. But would a computer capable of autonomous behaviour be life? If you would replace many of your organs with inorganic components and you weren't capable of reproduction through SEX , would you still consider yourself life?
A virus doesn't reproduce through sex or through division , it needs a host cell (it is like a software that programs a machine to create some more software)

I totally agree with you. They don't listen and don't care about the community because they are trying to go over the chasm or something... i think it's a stupid strategy for a open source project witch needs all the contributors it need. I can't code but i can translate things , many can design , and even more have ideas about Ubuntu. Those ideas should be spread to the community and discussed and then the best one implemented. I don't see this happening .
Anyway i hope they pass the damned chasm whatever the hell is that.
