Ah, it brings back fond memories of when I "discovered" TeX and LaTeX... Lo' all those years ago. Yes, coding in LaTeX fired me up with the kind of terminal enthusiasm demonstrated by this ask/.er.
Please note that LaTeX grew out of Tex, Donald Knuth's baby. The source is available, and there is a reward for finding any bug in it!
God... my English has gone to hell...
Kelly cites a single example of the "Pirates" who will ruin Free(libero) Software: LinuxOne. LinuxOne??? Puhleeze! Not only does LinuxOne NOT fit the profile of the huge corporations that Kelly claims are going to wreak havoc, it has quickly become mostly a joke. That is not to say that I disagree with everything that Kelly says, I haven't given it a lot of thought. Kelly needs to rewrite that article citing more examples than 6 gobshites in Redwood City running a Tele-Medicine scam if he is going to convince people of his argument.
please please please! If a port of Half-Life is released then the kick-ass Athlon 850 with the GeForce256DDR that I plan to buy in March won't have to be dual-boot...
It gives me the warm fuzzies to know that whatever happens with my Software job, and even if I sustain major brain damage in a car accident, or playing Rugby. I can always go to work for the Gartner Group. This guy SO doesn't get the difference between the GNU/Linux/Open Source community and the software industry at large, and he clearly doesn't have any understanding of the Linux community.
Red Hat is not Intel, and has done vastly more to aid free software than has a company like TrollTech which had to have its arm twisted to release the QT source under more restrictive terms than GPL. If those of us who are presently stuck with Win95/98 at work are ever to get a chance to use Linux in our US corporate workplaces, it will likely be due to the tremendous efforts and integrity of Red Hat Software.
I am currently trying to set up Solaris - Win95 file sharing using Samba. Our sysadmin wants it, but doesn't want to install it. Since I am the only one in our group who knows or cares about free software, I have taken on this task. Gosh, I hope I do it well, otherwise it will hurt the reputation of free software around here.
Stone 'im!!! ... Are there any women here?

I thought the Alpha processor is an X86 processor?
Somebody set me straight; what instruction set does Alpha use?
