Really the main goal of a politician is to get as rich as possible as quickly as possible. Ideally without getting their hands dirty. The best way to get rich is to get on the payroll of huge Corporations and to do as they say, introduce the Bills they write and generally serve as their proxy. Ever wonder why with all the Representative and Senators supposedly working for us why we are Not Represented? It's because they are working for the opposition, not us. Remember all politicians retire rich!
I completely disagree that Obama is delivering Universal Health Care. He may have promised it but the current Bills are about 95% Republican. They are all about forcing people to buy policies from the current Health Insurance Cartel at whatever Big Health Insurance feels like setting the price at. That kind of Pro-Business, Pro-Profit solution to a problem is as Republican as it gets. Republicans might balk at the Mandatory aspect though and I suppose they would never have manipulated things so that the uninsured could be covered. I may be wrong but I guess Republicans believe in a kind of twisted Darwinistic Survival of the Fittest when it come to the Uninsured. Or that as Rush Limbaugh has said if you do not have Insurance you should just go to Canada.
I for one was surprised when it became clear that Obama, a Democrat, was an ardent Corporatist with a long history of benefiting large Corporations in his bills resulting huge financial gains for them. This almost always implies that the politician is receiving rich personal gain for what he does. We have also learned that he talks the good talk but usually delivers something completely different. In fairness, there have been a couple of good calls out of the White House but for the most part it's "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss". Still, what would McCain have been like?
In Britain citizens are all potential criminals and potential terrorists. This justifies removing freedoms, rights and any vestige of privacy. Recently it has seemed that we have much more freedom than Britain but it I see now that the US Government is racing to catch up. I wonder when the national DNA registry is going to be set up?
How could anyone think that a cool Technology Company like Apple could be evil?
Unless you try to jailbreak your iPhone so you can use some app the Apple store rejected.

How can the price of entertainment be justified?
I pay for Internet, not for cable and receive all the entertainment I could wish plus the other benefits of the net. If I had cable I would have to memorize when the shows were on and schedule my life around them or use time shifting technology. And TV programming is 95% garbage. It has become worse in the age of cable, not better.
So my plan for an entertainment center will be to use a PC with a widescreen monitor and a fast Internet connection.
If I were the cable companies I would be concerned - people will figure out that paying for cable is a poor value.

Members of both parties are united in a desire for wealth. Almost all Congressmen leave Congress rich.
Both Hollywood and Big Business are happy to buy Congressmen. For them it is an astounding value. The Health Insurance Companies recently spend $380 Million on mostly Democratic Politicians. If Big Insurance's "Healthcare Reform" Bill passes they will gain $50 Billion in new revenues. Politicians are the best investment a Business can make!
If the ISP's have to prevent Copyrighted material from being uploaded the web will changed too. Anything they cannot police will have to be shut down until they can. Protocols and hard to analyze file types will go for sure until they can accommodate them. Say goodbye to file sharing with Obamanet!

Since ISP's are responsible to prevent any upload of copyrighted content, they will only be able to allow traffic and protocols they can police.
Video cannot currently be content verified in a cost effective manner so it will be prohibited. And consider the problem of protocols.
In other words, I hope you didn't need to use BitTorrent to transfer or receive critcal business files. It will be gone until ISP's adopt monitoring software.
And of course this will give them an excuse to block any and all protocols that they "cannot adequately monitor".
I suppose the impact to business of losing protocols and sites dependent on user content will be minimal except for the affected sites. And Content Owners have never really be comfortable with individuals being able to upload their own content. So if it happens at all it will now be highly regulated.
All for a few Million a year for some rights holders. No wonder a Treaty is required to slam this down our throats!
