When you go to work in an office, you won't be using a Dell in a tower case with a 24" monitor any more; you'll be answering your email, working on spreadsheets and documents, and doing CAD design or programming on a netbook with a 7" screen
If I don't have enough real estate while programming with two 24" monitors there's no way I'm switching to a single 7" screen any time soon.
Dude - there are (and were) cults out in the US today that do much, much worse. Past examples? Branch Davidians (Waco)
Slow down there friend and check this documentary out before you write off the Davidians as a bunch of psychos. Normal? No. But worse than slave labor, I think not.
And their war industries were located right in the middle of their major cities. We had no other choices.
Much of what you say is true, but I think this is misleading. Yes, the weapons were inaccurate, and yes sometimes vital industries were located near or amongst civilian populations but don't fool yourself for a second that the only reason civilians were bombed was because they were near war industry. All of the major combatants specifically targeted civilian populations at one time or another with carpet bombing campaigns. Bombing campaigns not designed to wipe out industry, but to wipe out people. Interestingly, in hindsight the general consensus on attacking civilian populations with strategic bombing is that it's relatively ineffective.

If you lost $8 on a movie on a Friday night
$8 dollars? Either I'm living in the wrong area or you haven't been to the movies in a long time.

You do realize that's a good thing. The charge of the Light Brigade was a disaster
