Really? That's interesting that Firefox goes faster than Chrome for you. On my side I've found the opposite to be true. The only real reason I stick with FF is due to the better selection/implementation of add-ons (specifically adblock plus).
That's all China is good at: stealing things from others and exploiting them. There's all this talk about how China is increasing their power by leaps and bounds, but none of it would have been possible without their theft. Even their government offices use pirated software for crying out loud! (they could at least use open-source or something). Point is, they let the US pay for all the R&D and etc, and then just steal it. This applies to the military and business especially.
Exactly. We don't want the government to have any more power to regulate the internet than it already does, especially when it comes to a kill switch. History shows that absolute power corrupts absolutely. Anyone with half a brain knows that will eventually be misused.
"Middle East peace" will be an oxymoron until radical Islamic Jihadists are exterminated. At the rate they're blowing themselves up, hopefully it will be sooner than later.
This is true. Here in Utah Valley, there used to be a company called Geneva Steel. The steel mill was built on the shores of Utah Lake, which they'd pump into the plant to cool the machinery. Thing is, they never allowed the water to cool back down first before pumping it back into the lake. The company isn't here anymore, but the damage has been done. The whole lake is just full of algea. It's pretty gross, really.
The Fed is not owned by the government, it is a private, monopolistic corporation, a central bank that doesn't have to exist at all. In essence, a leach that has been raping us for decades. The greatest scam ever pulled off.
When CD's first came out most were incredible as the engineers tried to make them fantastic. Companies like Mobile Fidelity sound Lab released albums that stunned people. I have several Ultradiscs of old analog recordings that blew away the best turntable setup I could find.
You have me interested, kind sir. Do you happen to have any specific titles as examples of what you were referring to, where the CDs were mastered so well that the sound was stunning? I'm interested in trying to see if I can find one now and compare to the sound of current CDs. I'm also familiar with the fact that they're making discs louder while sacrificing quality, and it would be interesting to hear a disc that was made to utilize the full range of the sound to compare the differences.
Mac software has historically been priced on a parity with other desktop software. That means small products are about $20. Utilities run in the $50-60 range. Games in the $50 range. Productivity packages and creative tools in the hundreds, and specialty software — well, the sky's the limit. Tomorrow, the sky will fall. Tomorrow, the iOS developers move in and the traditional Mac developers better stick their heads between their legs and kiss those price points goodbye.
Yeah, because that's exactly what's happened on the PC (read: Windows, not Mac) since there are thousands and thousands of open-source and cheap apps competing against traditionally-sold software--wait. No, it isn't like that at all.
I have the same issue; writing a story as well. Things I've searched for:
-lists of different firearms, both semi and fully automatic
-what calibers armor-piercing rounds come in
-different military ranks
-bullet ballistics tests
-used google maps to look at military bases
Now that I look at the list, I guess it doesn't appear as suspicious as I thought it might.
Fortunately: I usually do my searching through a free proxy server (just so the searches aren't attached to my name) and then clear the history from time to time.
Unfortunately, now I've posted the list here, pretty much negating that. Oh well.
Well, that in and of itself doesn't. Personally I already hate them because of their worthless, time-wasting Facebook apps that everyone seems to be suddenly using. This just made me annoyed even more, despite the fact that it's not directly their fault. In all honesty I couldn't think of a good title for the post. *shrug*
This is a stupid idea. People drive SUVs for a reason; they're powerful, many have great off-road capabilities, and their larger size makes them safer in crashes. But noooo. They're evil because bigger engines create more exhaust!
Any effect this will have on the precious environment will be negligible at best. Global warming is a farce anyway; it's just a political tool designed for control and wealth redistribution. If you need any evidence, just look at Climategate, Al Gore's conflict of interest of being heavily invested in "green" technologies that he's trying to force on everyone, and look at how we keep having these cold and snowy winters. They've countered by changing "global warming" to "climate change" (did you know that a couple decades back, the big scare was global cooling? Why do they keep changing their story?) and then attributing every type of weather--hot or cold--to warming. Pure idiocy and lies.
I'm not sure how, but somebody in Ireland got my credit card info and tried to spend about $140 at Zynga. Fortunately, my card company contacted me and we canceled the card.
What the charge was for, I have no idea; I don't really know/care how Farmville (or etc.) works, but I just hope actual money wasn't about to be wasted on virtual crops or something...
I don't think noise or lack thereof would be a factor in most pedestrian/vehicle encounters. I'm sure the car in the video made a lot of noise when flipping; however, the pedestrian really had no way to react fast enough.
*A Republic
I was thinking the same thing. Bad idea.
Interesting:
U.S. Has Secret Tools to Force Internet on Dictators
And CALEA?
(In your signature, it says that "When argument against the man falls short, try arguing against the mother?" Is that right?)

I do webhosting support, and constantly use telnet to make sure a given server is listening on various ports (21, 22, 110, 587, etc.) .

Wow! Somebody that gets it, and can explain it well to boot.
So, what you're saying is that nobody can ever say anything on the off-chance that some crazy person might misinterpret the comments and act out?

This from the company that has thousands upon thousands of useless and ambiguous patents of their own...

That's okay; there's still Visa (which is much bigger anyway) and American Express and etc. that can just be used instead.
I'd prefer Elvish as my made-up-and-utterly-useless-in-the-real-world-type-language for this show.
