how much Metallica got from each CD sold. Just an interesting omission, IMHO. Anyone know the answer?

I believe Square has stated (or at least strongly implied) that they will not be making Xbox games.

  3. PS2 competition? I think not on Microsoft Releases First X-Box Screens · · Score: 1
I don't think the XBox will be able to compete with PS2. My main reasoning is that I'm an avid RPG fan, and all of my fellow gamers that I know personally will follow Squaresoft wherever they go, and right now its the PS2. Online opinion seems to generally follow along the Squaresoft line.

Plus, Sony has a huge base already there, with a gazillion PSXs out there, and quadzillion PSX games, and the PS2 is backwards compatible with old PSX games, even enhancing them.

As for source, they've opened up Tracker and Deskbar.

Windows booting methods - Linux I've never seen make a big deal out of it, which is necessary to get your average windows user to notice it.

The thing about boot up times is 1) Amiga is dead, face it, get over it. 2) You're talking about modifing linux so its faster. Be is like that right out of the box, God only knows how fast it'd be if it was tweaked so only the components needed for gaming were brought up.

With the kernel, again you're talking modifications. [An aside on kernel and source stuff... most people don't care if its open source or not, if they can tweak the kernel or not! They just want something that when you turn it on it comes up and works every time. They don't care about source in the same way. They just want something that works and works fast].

POSIX-wise, I'm just saying that it'd be easier to port stuff that's already been done on a Un*xy system, as opposed porting from say Unix to Windows, which has very little in common.

... its free. Its easier to setup than any Un*x out there. What is it? BeOS! well, as soon as they finish rewriting the hardware OpenGL support that is. But think about it:

    1) The PE (Personal Edition) is free!

    2) It can be setup in a file in a Windoze partition. Double click the icon, you reboot into BeOS.

    3) Speed. This is where it blows everything else away. Can any other OS claim a boot time of 10 seconds?

    4) Ease of use. A dummy could use it.

    5) Speed. So fast, there is no wait cursor.

    6) its POSIX compliant

    7) Have I mentioned its fast yet?

Well, enough of my ranting, at this point the websites do a much better job. check out http://free.be.com to download it / get more info / whatever.
