I would not put my family or members of other peoples family at risk. I would not put targets that have no business being part of the conflict at risk. There are places to draw the line.
But lets put that aside and examine your "point". Ok you have pissed the US off and they are coming for you. Iraq aside for the better part of 200 years if you are in that position you did something to bring it on yourself. Hell even in Iraq Saddam may not have done the thing that W said he did but had he spent the last 25 some odd years being a nice person and playing with puppy dogs and kittens even W could not have found an escuse to be on his doorstep. Vietnam is.... complex. But those are the exceptions that prove the rule. So the problem is that they store munitions in hospitals or set up anti-aircraft guns in schoolyards. Then if we blow the shit out of them they claim we were targeting civilians. So ok if you want to do some of those things that most civilized nations/people agree are wrong then,IMO, you give up the right to bitch when we respond in kind. People who do that kind of shit are barbs and killing barbs is a good thing. Putting your children in harms way cause you are betting that the peeople coming for you care more for those children then you do is WRONG and STUPID. If you don't want to fight the free world maybe you should quit fucking bringing it on yourselves instead of bitching when we come for your sorry ass.
See this is the thing. W was wrong with the way he brought us into Iraq. What he should have said is "They are bad people and need to die." Then I could be onboard, as it is I have mixed thoughts and feelings. But the point being with a couple of exceptions I could give a shit how or why our enemies think cause for most of the last 200 years every single one of them have been EVIL. We have not always been perfect or even close to it but there is no comparison. So yes they choose to do things that have directly lead to us being on their doorstep and they should take it like men without dragging in those who should not be dragged in. My fear is that we have no choice but to make it clear to them that we will defeat them no matter the cost. Part of the reason I hate the Palestinians is because they have choosen to force the Israelis to kill their children. Fuckers.
and many people, including myself, do this right now. There are plenty of small cars out there. Buying a beater also means no payment no payment means more time/money to spend with/on the kids. From what I can see this has nothing on our Grand Caravan/87 Tercel combo.
Me too. I had a 1994 Justy that I had paid ~$800 for it. Anyway every part on that car is expensive and it needed an alternator and a mount replaced. So I had an auto dealership that I work with sometimes do it. Would have cost ~$400 had I not been trading as it was cost me a few hours and my markup on some network gear. Pretty sweet. The cool thing about mechanics is that they barter with their friends/customers all the time so the understand the concept.

This is now way OT. But yea my kids have never lived in a house without a computer and an always on net connection. OK the oldest one did for a couple of years but he does not recall most of those years.:) You are right to someone like me/. is still a "new" way of doing things. To someone under about 20 the net is just part of life. The way TV is for me.
This is not a project where folks are going to put up with "good enough" or even "very good". This is a project that would have to be perfect. We are talking larga amounts of money in paticular if something goes wrong. Also it is not just a matter of rules and calculations from one form. Any tax app basically needs to know the entire US tax code.
I for example have a house, 3 kids, a big chunk of charitable contribs and a bunch of other stuff. Any tax app needs to be able to do all that math for me and it needs to be up to date. It also needs to be able to efile. I don't know how hard or easy that is but it has to be able to do it. There is *much* more to it than the 1040 book. Oh and states, Oregon has had tax votes in January for the last 2 years. Who is going to update the code for state changes in anything resembling a timely matter and there are strict IRS rules on liablity for all of this.
The best way to do this is to convince one of the vendors to try and make it work with wine.

That is what the left thinks yes. The problem is many people think that the ACLU is a liberal org. For a long time they even acted like it. Now tht they return to their libertarian roots and defenc *everyones* rights many people who thought they were liberal don't like them anymore. The left just does not get this and of course neither do the right.
and of course people from other countries always have an accurate idea of what things are like here in America. Actually hang out with people from other countries for a while you will soon understand that their conceptions of what life in America is like are heavily shaped by visual media. So now think of this question about sand and heat. Many people in America have seen movies about Egypt and think that is what it is like. If that is what Egypt was like it would be an interesting question to find out what creative ways they have found to deal with the problem. And now some people who did not know what it is really like now have a better idea.
Don't be so quick to judge. Assume not hate but rather a lack of knowledge and take the time to educate. The sand and heat question has nothing to do with people but rather with wanting to know how those people deal with their environment. The person answering the question seems to understand this and takes the time to educate and explain. You OTOH get upset on his behalf.
md5sum. I install little to no software that I can't get sums for. Also not grabbing software from limewire. Also if the person really thought it was a beta taking a couple of minutes to verify that there was a beta going on for the product. So ok first thing in the morning at lest 3 things that could have been done in this case to make sure that this did not happen. You are right no one of those things could have prevented this but taken as a whole the person who got this could have figured out that the app was not what it said it was. Granted those same three things won't work for every bit of software you grab off the internet but if you have the correct mindset and apply a bit of logic you can almost always come up with at least two or three steps to verify software and in combo they will most times prevent this from happening.
Now to answer your asserstion that there are no strong mechanisms to prevent this yes yes there is md5sum use it love it where you can insist that your software comes with hashes.
The bad thing is there was chick who I liked she was geek cute and really fun. I was too much of a dork to do anything about it and then like 2 years later when she had moved halfway across the country I find out that she was into me also and thought I did not like her. Total waste.
