    Well, technically, the FAA is there to regulate aircraft activity, and we probably don't want to know the accident rates, so I can't blame them for trying to reduce their numbers.

    It's just that celebrities don't want to be photographed naked on their rooftop terrace. Those pix bring in some serious bread. Drones would be buzzing around Beverly Hills like flies on shit.

    Exactly, that's how the law has been twisted. Every thing we do is somehow involved in not just interstate, but global commerce. Show me your import/export papers and manifests and customs stamps and bank statements please. This 'commercial use' thing is nothing but an attempt to circumvent the 1st Amendment. They'll make it so that nobody can draw a sign because somebody made money selling magic markers.

    Then the FAA should take it up with Google, not the guy uploading the footage. It is not commercial to him, or is he using it for advertising his own business?

    Yep, Google is 'profiting' from the footage. Let them pay whatever fines pop up, or block the clips. That would be interesting.

    Science needs to be vilified in the press in order to maintain a complaint following. We are seeing fanaticism (religious, political, economic, etc.) desperately drawing every breath to keep itself in the forefront against all odds.

    Well, if you can't be bothered to oversee your government, I guess you shouldn't expect much, doesn't sound like it's their fault though. Competency of a government is only a reflection of the competency of the people that vote it into place.

    Without Genesis we will not 'terraform' anything. And in the case of Mars we would need to 'reignite' the core to get the juices flowing again. Right now it's cold dead rock. Venus on the other hand is full of energy and material we can exploit, and it's a lot closer than Europa or Titan.

    If they didn't do it somebody else would, that would include using the government itself to produce and compete in the market. We don't need big business to corrupt the government to get the things we need.

    There are few industries more corrupt than pharmaceuticals. Most of the money goes to buy offs and other backdoor deals to block out any competition. The legal and bureaucratic wastelands are their creation to serve that purpose. Anything at all that can break their stranglehold can only be seen as good, by anybody outside the industry of course.

    Exactly. Economic 'statistics' are really economic propaganda. To control inflation, prices are not raised, you just get more watered down products. More jobs, lower wages and less benefits. Economics is a religion, not a science. It ignores critical data.

    Why not just create a rule of no unauthorized celebrity content? If the idea is to avoid litigation, then that's the most obvious choice...

    Could be bad for business. You get too restrictive, and some competition might pop up.
