It's all still a matter of the voters' personal choice. There is no outside "system" to blame for that. Either they take their own initiative, or they don't. What they have now is their own making, even if by simply allowing it to happen and not lifting a finger, on the contrary, they are actively supporting it with their vote for Quid Pro Quo, yet endlessly whining about it.

Question: Who is going to end gerrymandering for you? The judges that owe favors? Or are people going to elect somebody to change the law? Of course if the latter were to happen, "Mission Accomplished", right?

It's called a leased point to point circuit, and all those evil scary ISP's already sell those services. That's how all those little companies the article talks about haul their data around.

Yes, this is true, but this way a bunch of people only have to buy one big fat connection with one big fat wallet, which will carry some serious clout when negotiating the price. This way the buyer prevails, or at least there is a balance of power. "Socialism" from the bottom up.

  16. Please! What is that supposed to mean? Did they actually flip votes on the machines, or somehow forced people to vote Republican? This is tabloid press bullshit.

If only people would stop electing terrible legislators.

Can't have that. The voters are helpless little angels and can only do what the TV tells them. Because, you know, like, democracy is hard, and the glittery money dazzles. I mean, they all want laws passed, but they never offer up anybody who will make an honest effort of it. Apparently, it's supposed to happen automagically, even as they reelect the same old crooks into office.

  18. "this was a decision better left to Congress" on Lawmakers Are Fighting For Net Neutrality (theverge.com) · · Score: 1

Absolutely. Elected officials should be making the rules, not appointed ones. The FCC is there to enforce the laws that congress writes. They can't go around making their own rules. If you want "net neutrality", vote for a congress that will give it to you instead constantly reelecting servants to the industry. The opportunity is ours to squander.

  19. If the voters don't hang the Sword of Damocles over the politicians' heads then you are right. That is what makes it the voters' responsibility. Nobody else will do it. You cannot change legislation without changing the legislator. I don't know why people are so repulsed by simple facts. If you have something better, then out with it..

  20. No, voters are responsible for cleaning out the house every two years... that will take care of the swamp.

  21. Searching for yourself only draws more attention. Each query is added to the database. Google picks up on those things when they scrape the site. Suddenly your name is everywhere in every search engine.

  22. Hmm, I was under the impression there was a problem. Of course you are allowed to continue reelecting 95% or more of them indefinitely. I'm merely pointing out options, can't make your choices for you.
