    If the Republicans had been able to field a more moderate candidate they would have almost been guaranteed a win.

    They got Hillary. She's a moderate republican... They needed Trump to scare people into voting for her and draw attention away from any alternatives. As long as power is shared exclusively between republicans and democrats, everybody's happy.

    Without being able to move our meat-sacks faster than light, interstellar travel sounds pretty far fetched. Even a probe will require multiple generations to see what's *out there*... Being the eternal optimist I'm sure we'll find a way.

  11. I would definitely love to know Comey's motivations for this.

    Probably to keep the election from being too lopsided. Both parties need the 50/50 split in congress to use the blame shifting scheme (rotating villain) that works so well to confuse and divide the voters.

    They could use the device serial number as the default password. At least they would be semi-unique that way.

    Client/server and DNS are monkey traps. We must let go of the nut, or we will forever be dependent on the ISP and other corrupt central authority for access. It will never be secure for the user.

    Legislation is political by nature, thus too corrupt, as illustrated by take downs, domain seizures, and other forms of censorship.

    The only way to 'fix' the internet is through true P2P ad hoc networking. Only then can we truly *route around the damage*

    Well, we could get rid of DNS and the whole server/client setup. Ad hoc or neural nets are really the only way out, but then how could the authorities shut anyone down?

    You should know they are fake if they have the standard 3.5mm plug on them.
