This type of bandwidth can't functionaly be used by a home user. If someone needs this much bandwidth they should have to pay.
Nobody needs more bandwidth in there home than most universities have. This is a bad idea from every point.
The companies supplying this service cant be making much $$$. There just cant be the profit here that breaking it down (even into T1 sized pipes) into smaller increments can generate. Many ISPs dont have the bandwidth required to make even DSL feasable. Even if you put the POPs for this at a phone company C.O. it still wouldnt generate much profit.
What kind of HOME user can even use this much bandwidth. You would have to have one hell of a home network to use even a small part, even if you television and phone were going over it as well.
This seems to be a very pointless idea. Not profitable to the company setting it up, and useless to any concevable home user.
Having graduated recently. (2 years ago) I can say, as I think all the college grads here can, that you learn very little about your job there.
You will still need shitloads of OJT and alot of home coding or whatever, depending on your job, to get by in the real world. BUT, college still has an important place. I can say that I didnt learn alot about my job there but I still wouldnt want to not have gone.
I met alot of people and made tons of friends and connections. It also gives you a chance to have some free time. I dont know about you all, I never have had as much free time as I did in college.
They have a point in saying that something needs to be done.
What other options are there?? There are only so many availible IPs. More may be coming soon with the new "standard" but that isnt very widly supported yet. This is much more reasonable right now.
Didnt we just have an article on how horrible it was that windows ME doesnt have an easily reachable CLI mode anymore.
I for one dont like graphics screwing with the resources of my production servers. As an admin. I enjoy having as many free clock cycles on hand as possible. there never seem to be enough!!!
I don't see where it makes any differance what distro you use. other than the previously mentioned time lag in support. Very few users get a server and do nothing to it before including it in there net. The software is certainly not in a standard config. after that. Even the all mighty/. uses debian on some of its VA servers!
O.K. maybe it got better than it was. Does anyone realy think that that is good enough?? Since when has anyone been able to call exchange an effective mail server??
Am I wrong in asuming that they were already monitoring E-Mail. All this seams to be is an atempt to make you hand over your encryption key. Which " in line with a previous post " I believe would be like making you testify against yourself.
Therefore illegal.
It shouldn't be that hard a fight to win that any key you give will be handing out info about yourself.
As an individual hosting web pages I am currious as to the reason WHY you havent set up or had set up a page or pages to sell your music? This would be a technicaly easy thing to do, you would get all (or at least virtualy all) of the profit, you could "control" the release of it and the format it was released in (album or individual song or both). This seams to me to be the best move for you. It would make alot of your fans happier andprovide an example for others. Over all, I was curious as to the reason it isnt more widly done by you or other musicians?
It would seem to be an excelent way to set up multi homed web servers. One organization could lease space and a linux install to anyone. This would help all those who have put boxes at a distant local just for the use of bandwidth etc.
Am I wrong in asuming that if one of the versions were running a say radius server and it went down it would be incredibly easy to bring one of the 41000 others up to replace it??

Paypal works great. It is a verry handy system. Thank god it works better than the older companies that tried this.
The older systems were jokes. Always loosing your $$$$.
