    I am not even going to entertain the idea that raising taxes is a smart thing to do, only a idiot want's to give more hard earned money to a wasteful organization like our government. The govt does not create jobs, it does not create wealth it only consumes other peoples hard earned money. When I am in a financial bind I quickly work to reduce my financial burden by making cuts to non essential items, why should the govt be any different?

    Depends on the state you live in, many do not require car and or motorcycle insurance. This took things to a whole new level as now you have to purchase private insurance just because you where born on american soil.

    Apple will just delete it and rightfully so, if apple wishes to run a closed shop that is their business. I have a iPhone and happen to love it, I have a developers license which allows me to install and run just about anything I want. I really do not loose sleep over the fact that apple controls their app distribution channel. In fact if I want this media player on my phone I will just compile and install it nothing at all stopping me from doing it.

    As time goes on here the situation will grow more dire for them. Think about how many startups today are going to use their platform? I am sure there are some but
    the vast majority choose not to have to pay for the software stacks they are running because they don't need to. You have this whole ecosystem that is springing up
    cutting them off at the legs. Even in corporate america there is a big push to sandbox the windows os by placing it in virtual machines, sure you might be running
    windows but it is being moved to a secondary position.

    Any app I build in the future will be created on a droid powered device first. I have learned the hard way to shoot for the lowest performing platform first as it is nearly impossible to port the other direction.

    How about execution speed, the whole apple eco-system including apps is based on native executable code. The vast array of games available for it vs the android is a direct result of this.

    I have a stack of at least 20 good model m keyboards, not sure I will ever get to use any of my spares. They are built like a abrahms tank so the chances of me breaking one are pretty close to nil.

    To see the light you must understand that when it comes to high speed trading speed and latency counts. In fact speed and latency are the only thing that counts. The first thing you have to remember that these guys are not running off the shelf shit everything in the system is modified to run at those speeds. Which system am I going to use when microseconds can mean 10's of 1000's of dollars? That is correct I am going to pick the system that I can tweak, tune and modify just to gain a couple of microseconds of advantage on you.

    Yea sure because they are running a off the shelf ip stack on those boxes right? Come on don't talk silly the reason these guys can achieve that speed is because they had access to the source and had the ability to modify and tweak the system to their needs. Look when speed means the difference between winning and loosing I would certainly pick a OS that I can modify to my needs.

    Yes perhaps it would have been quicker but would it be quicker than what can be achieved on Linux. These systems use a heavily modified ip stack it is not your general off the shelf architecture. To obtain the speeds and volume we are talking about here full access to the OS source and the ability to modify it in any means possible is a must.

    Actually Linux has everything to do with being able to achieve that sort of speed. Your standard off the shelf operating system cannot achieve that sort of speed without the
    ability to tweak the OS to your needs.

    I feel they are on the right track and should stay the course. Android is completely hobbled by running a jvm instead of native code. It is the reason you do not see crap for
    games on the android since the stack is not efficient enough. MeeGo on the other hand runs native code, porting stuff like iphone games which push the device processing limits
    will be a real possibility.

    Is there a way to go back to the orginal threaded slash interface? Rendering 10,000 div and class tags in a large group discusson is grinding my browser to a screaching halt. The new interface is not attractive, not efficient and does nothing for me when it comes to functionality....epic fail . I guess the slash developers did not take note of the digg fiasco.

    What makes me more pissed is why the corporate tax rate is 35% in the first place. That is 35% that could be used for providing real value such as jobs and growth. Because it is so high now there is a problem introduced where the money is being funneled out of the country where not only will the govt not get it but will drive no growth here.
