Even the not-so-deep-space is a frontier to us...heck, 40 years and we didn't even make it past the moon...hell, we didn't even make it back to the moon!
I think this would make a nice "Ask Slashdot" question. It's a very interesting question and can maybe be easily answered (JavaScript Drive-By attack or something). But I think one possible explanation is our good old friend flash.
It could also be that this is not directly related with the sites, but rather a rogue advertiser.
To use a Zombie virus analogy, Windows users are the ones running about in a mad panic as the Zombie hoard approaches, blocking highways and running to get away. Mac users walk towards them saying, "Zombies dont exist on Mac, I could never get infected". Linux users fled to the hills six months ago with as much fuel, food and porn as they could carry.
Here, take this imaginary +1 vote...it's all I have at the moment...but that awesome analogy deserves more!
Yes, they are providing what the users actually want.
*cough* Not that I want to disagree with you, but there's a big difference between what the user wants, and what's the right thing and what's good for the user. Reminder: Most car users would also like to see all speed limits removed.
Also, we really need to distinguish between "user", "user" and "user"...I like my stringed together pipes...others don't.
This will be a complete version of our engine, including C++ code access, our content exporters (including our LiveCreate real-time pipeline), shader code, game sample code from Crysis 2, script samples, new improved Flowgraph and a whole host of great asset examples...
To me this smells like access to underlaying engine code, I could be wrong, though.
You'll be waiting a very long time...did you look at the average computer user in the last time? Most are believing that 64Bit will double the performance...becuase it is twice as much as 32Bit...
If measured with a lifetime, 20 years is of course long. But if you look at it from an astronomical (or was it astrological?) point of view, you better shouldn't blink because you could miss it.
...but I still think that Admins, or so called 'IT-Specialists', which are suggesting Google Documents and Skype for serious business use should be moved to the cleaning staff (or at least as far away from the IT infrastructure as possible).
I haven't looked the WinForms in 4.0, but up to 3.5 it's a pain in the a**. The controls are limited in any way you can imagine, the text of labels is not selectable, the backgroundcolor of some controls (f.e. TabControl) are not exposed so you have to draw it yourself, only horizontal progress bars and so on and on and on...
Seriously, WinForms is a nice and easy to use Widget-Library...but the moment you wanna do something 'fancy' you should get as fast and far away from it (and.NET) as you can.
I think you got there something wrong...what's up with the pipe?

I think this is it.
science is per definition open source.
You haven't been looking at the U.S. Patent System lately, have you?

"With Microsoft, and other operating system vendors, I think the complexity of managing your computer is really torturing users..."
Yeah right, guess who is "another operating system vendor" now.
"Chromebooks are a new model that doesn't put the burden of managing the computer on yourself."
Most Windows users are already "not managing their computers themselves". SCNR
Well, then I suggest we call it rape or murder from now on!

...but under what license will the sourcecode be released?
Japans Roboters have refused to go in there, their union said that they don't need to take commands from the meatbags.

...cut the chit-chat...does Linux run on it yet? scnr
So it's the problem of the Protocol that it gets billions of emails from millions of hijacked machines?
Do they still have the odd Windows 3.11 Font-Installation-Dialog in there?
I just don't believe that casual users will ever massively switch to Linux.
They will, as soon as they need to pay for Windows and Microsoft Office.
Wait...so basically you're saying that Java is shitty because it can't detect stolen security keys?

It's not about downtime...it's about data security and controllability.

As it seems, not paranoid enough.
You want to exercise your right to carry a gun around in a hot/combat/war zone?
