Also, it's not as cool as first reported... it doesn't actually track your every move: http://sanchom.wordpress.com/2011/04/21/your-iphone-isnt-following-your-every-move/
I wanted to see the paths that I followed around North America San Francisco, Winnipeg, Montreal, Vancouver, Seattle, and lots more of Vancouver. I was disappointed. I rarely saw a little stream of location markers showing “my every move”. I looked closer at the data, and it seemed very sporadic. Sometimes days would go by without a timestamped location. Other times, like when I was using Latitude to update my location during a bus trip from Vancouver to Winnipeg, updates happened much more often, sometimes multiple times per minute.
In case it wasn't clear, I was talking about this article's subject, not the case of hammers and thumbs. I meant to say, "With a computer, it's not like there's this urge to yell and curse that we have to hold back like a sneeze."
Why would one need self control to not curse at a computer? Some people are just quiet. Some people are just not emotive. Some people realize that yelling at a computer is kind of silly. It's not like there's this urge to yell and curse that we have to hold back like a sneeze.
Especially related to this book is the first episode, in which Steven Shapin and Simon Schaffer discuss their 1985 book, Leviathan and The Air Pump. It's an examination of exactly how science is done.
From the summary: "[...] he said it was detected and controlled. The second part of that claim, experts say, doesn't ring true." The second part being, "and controlled".
The summary then goes on to give reasons why experts believe that the second part of that claim isn't true.
What's wrong with that?

It's not mandatory.

This is only a concentration of power if you see comcast and NBC as needs. Who actually needs either of them?

You people seem to think the GPL is fine as a binding contract
The GPL is not a contract. It is a licence that allows a person to use redistribute somebody else's copyrighted work under certain conditions.
