That may work on the local level, but I think once you reach the state and federal levels, there is so much gerrymandering and corporate interest in play that choice is greatly diminished or even snuffed out completely.

Couple this with the fact that the POTUS is elected by the electoral college who don't have any obligation to side with the popular vote.

Right. A whole new version of swatting is born...

The thing is, how are you supposed to make any kind of informed decisions if you don't have all of the information.

We may not like what terrorists have to say, but somewhere deep down there is a grievance or possibly an injustice.

This is the proverbial slippery slope. Once the government deems a group a terrorist organization, all information about that organization suddenly becomes filtered through approved channels. What if they were misidentified accidentally or purposefully? What if there are multiple "wings" of the same organization, some being non-violent who are just trying to affect change?

Yeah I don't like this idea at all.

I am not a constitutional scholar or anything, but I always thought that freedom of speech extended to the point where it met my freedom to not be persecuted or slandered.

Besides, Facebook and Google (or any company) has any obligation to provide uncensored service.

I think that if they want to, and in the interest of fairness, can prove (to themselves) that the speech is hurtful to someone, then by all means, delete the content. I think these companies have an obligation to protect their customers equal to the obligation to make their services as accessible as possible to as many people as possible.

The other side of that coin is that if they do it too much and with too heavy a hand, they will drive away customers. But you can't please everyone.

You expressed what I did not (except for the name calling). But this is why I am so excited about what the next few years hold.

THIS is how MS can win a significant percentage of the mobile market back. It is hedging it's bets by making its apps available on other platforms, but if they could succeed with an x86 Surface Phone that runs a full blown Windows 10 scalable UI, I think that will be so huge.

Add in the bridges for universal apps to run non-native code and you just sweeten the pot.

MS may not be your favorite company, I and I know I come off as a fanboy, but I have always been about using what works and try not to let ideology get in the way.

I really see some real potential with the direction MS is going. It will be very interesting to see where MS is 5 years from now.

A full computer in my pocket that I can use as is, or use it with 4 large monitors, keyboard and mouse, or anything in between. One computer to do everything.

I don't know what is different exactly.

However, I would assume that the new key features will leverage the Azure cloud. Like perhaps allowing you to remote to your computer no matter what network you are on in a "LogMeIn" type fashion without having to open up ports in your home router.

  18. Exactly!

You jest, but everyone knows this.

How could he, a responsible business person, trust a car dealership to remove his logo?

He is obviously trying to "defend" his business now that it is under attack, but he was not too worried about defending his brand enough to be bothered with simply painting over the decal or removing it despite what the dealership said.

  19. Except that it was an easily avoidable situation.

He was selling his car WITH HIS LOGO ATTACHED... how could he think something WOULDN'T go wrong? You don't know who is going to get that car or what it is going to be used for.

He should have taken the completely reasonable action of either removing the decal himself or defacing/redacting/painting over the decal without removing it.

  20. If he wanted the logo removed he should have done it himself.

At the very least, if he was worried about damaging the paint then get a can of black spay paint (Krylon fusion) and paint over the decal (masking off the painted part of the truck around the decal so as not to mar the paintwork).

about an hour of work all said and done and then even if they don't remove the decal, you are fine and you haven't marred the paint by trying to remove the decal.

People just always want to blame other people. In this case, there is a reasonable course of action he could have taken which would have solved all the problems.
