    He could sell it at launch for $40. So his loss is more $10 to $15. Or he could of read reviews like everyone else. He could of watched videoes of the game. Or he could of played the free demo and saw what it looked like before he purchased it. (not 100% sure there was a demo)

    But they did deliver it. It outputs a 1080p signal to your TV. It looks better in the single player mode than in the multplayer one. Where is the 5mil in harm this guy recieved? If he did not like the game he could sell it and recoup 90% of its value. His loss is like $5.

    I have a hard time finding Delaware on the map. There are environmental positives in not shipping things long distances. You can distrupt a fresh water lake or miles and miles of ocean.

    The lake they plan to use is above sea level. They would need at locks on either side of it to use the lake.

    So I don't know how this is supposed to catch on when the first I hear abouts its release is on slashdot. The Wii U, Ouya, and Windows Phone had a lot more hype. I suppose it increase their chances at a a profit assuming they don't make many of them.

    Your forgetting the up to $2500 people with identity theft can recieve. The consequence was Sony not being able to sell anything in its online store for 24 days. It also lost some customers. Some constomers switched to prepaid cards.

    healthcare is going to be offshored. Countries are gearing up for healthcare tourism. You hop on a plane go to a spa and get several procedures done cheap. Once insurance companies get on board you will have no choice in the matter. You will get your choice of doctors from a list outside the country.

    Upload is what matters. He is married to an internet personality who probably uploads video often. The ability to upload hd video in 1/20 the time is a big benifit. You don't want to wait 20 min to upload a 20 min vid. Not when it can take 1 minutes. The 19 min difference can get your content out before other sites.

    2nd the above. Send her to a trade school. The nature of the work is local. It has some risk of automation but little risk of being offshored. As long as we need water plumbing will be needed. Electrician might be less future proof depending on advances in wireless power. Car repair will see some decline with electric cars. (they have less parts)

    Google results are biased based on your old search history and based on the data Google has collected about you. What Google displays for to you is different than what it displays to the parent. You can type in the same terms but Google will order the results based on your history. Parent gets a bunch homeopathy pages. You get a more mainstream result. Google is not a safe way to research an idea. Sometimes your bias is just going to be reinforced.

    501(c)(3) are charitable, religious, educational, scientific, literary, testing for public safety, fostering national or international amateur sports competition, and preventing cruelty to children or animals.

    IRS views charity as something sepperate from religion, the arts(literary), and education. I think they should of applied under literary instead of charity/science/education. They can say their code/tools are works of art for the public good.

    not quite. They wanted to be a 501 c. this includes non charities:

    501(c)(3) are charitable, religious, educational, scientific, literary, testing for public safety, fostering national or international amateur sports competition, and preventing cruelty to children or animals.

    They applied under charity, education, and science. Scientific seems the best bet. By providing source code you could say they are advancing computer science. But it is a stretch. The IRS instead saw Yorba as a provider of free stuff. Free stuff is nice but it isnt' advancing science or education. Free stuff is only charity when it is provided to a disadvantaged group of people according to the IRS. Note that environmental activism does not appear in that list. I don't think planting trees would quilify at all as a non profit. (unless it was done in a disavantaged neighborhood)

    Email is also vastly more bandwidth and power friendly than continually polling to ask "have anything for me yet? have anything for me yet? have anything for me yet?".

    That really depends on how you access email and how you access rss feeds.

    I think that is what they have done. They sent out an email with instructions on how to get the security updates. The method they are using, RSS, gives you control over how you recieve those updates. With the new approach microsoft isn't keeping track of your email address or personal information. They are not using some propietarty bs either. RSS is a standard supported by lots of companies.

    It isn't about reality. It is about what Microsoft can prove in court if you decide to sue them. Can they prove to a judge or jury that you consented to the email you recieved?

    That is exactly what Microsoft has done. They likely have poor records for this massive list. The list also no longer serves a marketing purpose as they can't include advertisements for services and still be exempt. So they canned it. RSS was the cheapest replacement.
