I just downloaded this new version and found the animation on the google.com home page much smoother in Opera than in Firefox, especially the star falling part. This really makes Firefox look bad.
I did realize that Direct2D is not for XP. And MS definitely realized if they used OpenGL or Direct3D to implement IE9, they would have no excuse for not making IE9 available on XP. MS is doing a superb job at controlling technology on their platform, as always.
I was thinking more of a true 3D environment to take full advantage of the graphics card, like shaders. We don't need or want to read text on a cube, but 3D transitional effects would be nice. Also it might be easier to support WebGL. For firefox, an OpenGL browser would probably share more code across platforms.
What you described is quite true in the US. And I'd say that's probably one significant cultural shock I experienced when I came to the states. because in China where I grew up, science and scientists are still greatly respected, especially by parents, who almost always motivate their children, girls as well as boys, to be the next great scientist. There are many changes I'd like to see in China but I hope this won't be one of them.
This is very similar to an application freezing on the Desktop. So Instead of killing the plugin, Firefox should provide UI for the user to decide what to do.
Also if the plugin died because it was killed for freezing, please don't say it crashed. That's very misleading.
There is no cold war any more unless you say there is one. China is just trying to maintain it's political system while engaging the rest of the world economically. This is similar to Saudi Arabia. Some Americans seem to be uncomfortable or hostile toward China because they think China has the potential to challenge the US militarily. But that's a short sighted view.
Most people in China really do not understand the west at all from a philosophical perspective. I am not saying the west is good or bad, but there are indeed significant differences and they are quite obvious if people have the chance to see both. What's why the economical interactions between China and the west will eventually have a great impact on China and the rest of the world.
If it is not a given, then it is informative for those who really don't know. Even if you are a genius you would still try to make sure of it instead of just make assumptions.
"redundant" make sense here only if someone already posted that, but that's not the case. someone here already commented with a "whoosh" so your post is actually redundant.
Obviously there are millions of people who buy a computer and use it like a toy. They are the voters for Steve Jobs. If you think Steve Jobs is so imperfect, millions more voted for Bush, twice.
It looks like there is a single process plugin-container.exe to run all flash files. Killing this exe will stop playing all the flash files. This means while you are enjoying a show on hulu.com, a rogue flash ad could still spoil the fun.
Better to wait until a later stage when everyone has had a chance to think about what they really want.
To me, this is an alarming statement. So basically you got your infrastructure in place without considering what they really want. This means your infrastructure is a commodity, nothing special to the project. The GUI part, on the other hand, might have significant consideration of the work flow other than just a pretty face.
It seems your mentality is to produce command line apps. If a real GUI app is expected, it's very likely your infrastructure, even if it's really superior for its own reason, might not be able to integrated with a good GUI.
It's interesting you got +5(insightful) for your comment. But it's as surprising as why this year is still not the year for Linux Desktop.
I can totally understand how people would defend their paragraphs. In that case, the system should allow others to attack. A really CMS should be able to list multiple versions of the same issue, along with some background information about the authors. In other words, just let the world decide who's the genius and who's the moron.
It was an animation logo for the 4th of July only.

saying only that they used "free software instead of Photoshop." The GIMP's ridiculous name has cost it some valuable media exposure.
...and free publicity for its commercial alternative.

Why not build the entire browser in OpenGL or DirectX for computers with a capable graphics card?
There is no way for you know my eyes but I know you have a slant brain.

A real site knows what the real work there is behind a major feature like video. What a surprise.

I was doing a high level comparison, that is economically open while politically closed. In this respect, they are very similar.

Sorry, your vulcan grip has been obsoleted by the new iPhone grip.
... and I hope the goal is not just netbooks or tablets. It has the potential to replace XP on the desktop as well.
No. If I kill firefox.exe in the Task Manager the plugin process disappears too.

I can't even conceive of who would be a good "match" for me in that scenario.
Linus?

I don't know about that either. It's just in my imagination WordPerfect should have gone on to another battlefield and claimed victory already.
I am surprised it hasn't defeated Word on Mac.

Just a little more for helping handle nuclear waste would be convincing.
What's the problem? If you can't change it from outside, you change it from within. Quite logical to me, unless your goal is total annihilation.
