This sort of thing has always happened in declining societies. Police organizations always deteriorate into the core belief systems that they recruit from. The deliberate wooing of the "thug" element as a source of new personnel is nothing new. Now they have a sympathetic administration entering the highest office in the nation, this will become much more common. Policing the opinions of individuals is always the priority whether or not real offenses occur. Organizations like Earth First! and NORML have never experienced a time when they're not under political scrutiny. They have been arrested, bombed, publically sabotaged in the corporate media, and prosecuted under vague legal definitions of constitutionally questionable laws written by and for the wealthiest (and therefore most powerful) 10% of our population. If you criticize or question too much, you will be shut down, if not legally, then socially and/or economically. Making fun of authority figures has always been a tradition in this nation, and one we might have to get used to doing without. GWB will only make the police more powerful in these endeavors. The best thing to do is to make more noise than they can deal with. And then keep yer head down.
It know when you are sleeping,
it knows when you're awake,
it knows if you've been bad or good,
so be good for goodness sake!
Ooohh, ya better watch out,
ya better not cry,
ya better not pout, I'm tellin you why,
Billy Clause is comin' to town!

Who da fug needs a goddamn computer to call in arty anyway? Alls ya need is a compass, a map, and a sense of humor. Chunkers hitting the dirt in front of your face means yer on target.
My first computer was an SGI indy, that I bought used without a HD. I spent four months screwing around with it and finally got it to work. I then made the mistake of buying a compaq cheapo to do my homework on. Wotta joke. A month and a half after I got it, the NS processor literally went up in smoke. it burned a dime sized hole in the top and melted the cooling fan on the heatsink. When I took it in to get it fixed, the store told me I had to replace it with the same chip. I told them the damn thing wasn't in any book and I needed a real chip to do the things I needed to do, and they tried to sell me a k6-2 for $200 installed. I laughed in the poor schmucks face and went and got meself one for $85. put it in and a month later it wouldn't shut off except by a hard shutdown, and when I took it in for that, the jerks told me I voided the warranty. The bitch won't take an aftermarket vidcard, and I went through three nics before I found one that would work. cheap, cheap, cheap. I will never buy a production machine again. The bitch wont even run linux right. Lesson Learned.
Yah BS. it is nearly as inert as gold when alloyed with nickel, and that series of alloys is what they use for prosthetic limbs and other medical equipment. The oxidation of Ti is so slow a person would have to live for about a thousand years to show any symptoms of poisoning. Another urban myth repeated without any minimum of reasearch involved is just another cowpie.
HA! The Hugo is an award for REAL Sci Fi only, not the mealy mouthed, whitebread and twinkie bullshit Mr. Lucas puts out. There are limits to how much a man can bullshit people, (Mr Gates is a good example) and just because one is filthy rich and appealing to the largest part of the flock does NOT entitle one to any awards reserved for quality. Candidate Bush should take note.....
Ease is relative, I fully support the idea of simplifying basic tasks for such things as acessing the web or typing a paper. The idea that things should stay above a certain undefined level of difficulty bothers me a little for the simple reason that it denies access to the medium to so many people who would otherwise be left wandering our alleyways muttering to themselves. Superstitions are always a part of any human undertaking. Public education is considered a form of welfare in this country, and is funded accordingly. The idea that simplifying certain basic tasks is wrong is rather stupid because of the minimalist way we treat knowlege as an entity to itself. I would rather keep it simple for the basic reason that when things get out of control, and become complex beyond the abilities of the average user, then I get to keep charging the $150.00 minimum to tell these dumb bastards to pop their floppy disk out of the drive on bootup.
This is a really crazy idea for several reasons.
A:/ A 747 flies at a max speed of 550 MPH. If this exceeded by 50 MPH it comes apart. Any aircraft is limited by the overall strength of its structure. This means that any aircraft can only lift a limited percentage of its weight above the weight of its structure. Any aircraft built strongly enough to handle the speeds required could not possibly lift its own weight, much less cargo.
B:/ At 4.5 mi/sec the orbit would be so low it would intersect the atmosphere and fall back to earth. Escape velocity is 7.7 mi/sec, which would have to be the velocity of the aircraft to be useful. The SSO is limited to orbits of 2200 miles up. This put its velocity at about 6.2 mi/sec. The thrust required to achieve escape velocity is so huge that it could not possibly carry enough fuel.
C:/ As a source of reaction mass, the atmosphere is useless above about fifteen miles.
It occures to me that the people who belive this are also likely to still be virgins at 40. it seems the AIDS plague has always been part of the world but was never identified as a specific desease untill it started killing republicans. Funny how that always seems to work that way....
I think you are getting her mixed up with your wife. Natalie is a stunningly beautiful and highly educated young woman. I would love for her to bear my children.
Stuff like this sould only be given to professionals. Huh. Anybody ever read The White Plague? Frank Herbert. It's a mind blower. All we need is a goddamn scriptkiddie with a home chem set, an autoclave and a Klibold attitude. Thanks but no thanks. * *
Hmmm.... This remindes me of the ol' duffer next door who built a laser style hardwood boat in his basement when I was a little kid. He had trouble getting it out. Legos would've been simpler...
I attended the Linux U in seattle a couple of weeks ago and the reps said something about the Linux release will be on the Celeron sometime in July 2000. The kernel will be 2.6 but one dude said it is a version of Irix 6.1. SGI is contracted with Intel on this and it is supposedly highly scaleable.
I attended the Linux univ. at Seattle a coupla weeks ago and one of the reps said the SGI/Linux will not be configured for the MIPS. The platform will be Intel Celeron and is a version of IRIX 6.1 that is open source. I also have a few questions about the Indy I have. Can anyone tell this foolish youngster how to configure a Quantum Viking 4.5 HD on an Indy. I had the Seagate take a dump on me and replaced it with the Viking. The Indy is scsi-2 fast and the viking is Uw2. I used a somewhat cheesy adapter and now my Indy sees 5 Hd's instead of one. I think mebbe a termination problem? The websites don't seem to have the info I need and SGI wants megabucks to answer my questions. The Indy now will not take the miniroot and cannot install the OS.IRIX 6.2. Dammit. It did seem to accept fx to config and partition but will not run inst. Please help! My E-Mail is madmaxwilliam@netscape.net

That attitude is probably why yer still a virgin huh?

I tried the clip and all I got was a single frame with BG's mouth open and his eyes half closed. Remindes me of Richard Nixon. Innovation my ass.
That's because he's writing the games in quickbasic
Thanx man, That solved the problem in about 5 minuits of fucking around. Y'all were a big help.
