To elaborate on tsotha's explanation that "Hydrogen only burns in the presence of oxygen": an explosion requires a nice mix of something flammable and oxygen. If the mixture isn't of the right proportions, no explosion. If the flammable molecules and the oxygen molecules are not nicely mixed, no explosion. Drop a match in a bucket of gasoline: no explosion. Throw the bucket of gasoline into the air and walk into the mist with a lit match: big explosion.
Hydrogen does have a high flame speed. So a better choice for lifting gas might be methane - super abundant and cheap, albeit with half the bouyant force of hydrogen.
The potential explosiveness in a fully fueled 747 likely exceeds that of the R100.
I'm too lazy to look it up, but I suspect the majority of deaths in the Hindenburg accident were from falling or choosing to jump or poorly designed escape routes.
I've started using a concatenation of many easy words, related to the system and my daydreams. According to xkcd, long plain word passwords are more secure.
So at work, one password is "servertwomybitterlife". At home, it's "Anypornonthis24inchmonitor?" My bank account is "Ohlookabalancebelowzeroagain!"
What sort of hard drive is connected to your fileserver? I'm thinking of doing this, but wonder about the reliability of a consumer-grade external USB connected drive. You're unlikely to lose data, but won't the USB-SATA interface cook itself if left on forever?
... onion has no nutritional label, so you can't use OCR...
Shake the phone. App measures momentum. Hold onion in same hand as phone. App measures momentum. Determine mass of onion.
Take picture of onion. App determines that onion is onion.
Cut off portion of onion and eat it.
Shake remaining onion plus phone again. Subtract, and log portion of onion eaten.
Profit!
A good Q&A at the end of the video answers some of the questions asked here. I'm disappointed no one asked him if they're using it for gambling. Although data mining of this complexity may not be needed. Anyone profiting using this simple metric to gamble on games?
Probably less expensive and more reliable to install a collection of fixed monitoring stations, watching your favourite ~10 locations.
Game cameras, zigbee pro mesh and a concentrator or two to get it back to your alpine cabin.
Do you really mean open source? Or do you mean *nix? You don't mention what your area of expertise is, so the difference may actually be irrelevant.
Consider imbedded systems, firmware, device drivers, etc. Down in the guts, the difference becomes somewhat meaningless.
I enjoyed programming too much to take care of my body, so started getting carpal tunnel and neck issues. So I moved to product management. At our company, that includes a significant amount of technical involvement, both the end users' physics/chemistry/engineering technicalities, and our software's algorithmic/data model/hardware technicalities. Tying the two areas together and seeing the plan executed is satisfying. My winning personality (non-bad attitude) was important in getting the position.
I miss coding regularly to some extent, but don't miss the real low-level parts. I don't need to ever type another iteration loop, for example.
Use the dead bug wire wrap technique: hot glue the components onto something, or to each other. Use a wire wrap tool and wire to connect leads as appropriate. This works well with everything except surface mount components.
Answer the phone. If its a telemarketer, or the dreaded 2 second pause while _they_ pick it up, just put the phone down and walk away.
If everyone does this, each of us will get half as many calls, because each call will take twice as long. Telemarketing will be half as effective. Companies and organizations will stop using it.

If you watched the video, did you notice they sweep the kite back and forth across the wind to increase the pull?
The economic analysis would be interesting, key factors being:
- size of kite
- optimal flying altitude
- lifetime of fabric
One thing I'd do is make the weakest part of the tether right next to the mast, so when it breaks it does _not_ whiplash the admiring crew!
Just one? Pick your favorite: * astronomy unfettered by an atmosphere and complexities of zero-G environment * unlimited vacuum and little concern for pollution for industrial processes * lots of sunshine for power generation * tourism
There's longer term, and more altruistic goals as well, like getting our eggs out of one basket.
I'm imagining you looking out at the ocean from the beach, and saying "why go sailing? There's water in my bathtub."
You can ease the transition to the real world by getting a job in your department. Once you realize how lowly a masters holder is in the U environment, you will be ready to enter the business world.
Reminds me of the radio sports guy describing our quarterback in last night's game:
It was beuatiful, how his balls fly around the field with a tight spiral.
I enjoyed that segue. LOL, I did. Tastes vary.

A sister company of where I work adds some fiber-specific layers on top of ArcGIS. It's worth checking: http://www.telvent-gis.com/products/fiber_manager.shtml
One new thing they did here was put a heatsink on the SOC. I have not seen that before. Earthshaking innovation, I know.
What's in the same price bracket that has a SATA header, and you have personally used? The Cubieboard looks promising.
Or print out a case following the community's designs, using good old 2-d printing. :)

It just goes on and on with the relentless conflict..

My external USB drive with USB 3 cable plugged in to a USB 2 port works fine.

What's wrong with collecting the drips off a sheet of plastic over top of something wet, out in the hot Indian sun? Pathogens?
Or this: http://www.changingworldtech.com/press_room/index. asp, or probably every other large landfill in North America.
You mean like you're playing fast and loose with that apostrophe?
Oops, let me translate in to 'Murrican:
Like your playing fast and lose with that single quote?
Also have a look at http://phpicalendar.net/documentation/index.php?ti tle=Main_Page
which works with Sunbird or Mozilla calendar it seems.
