While I haven't tried any Mandrake newer than 6.1, I've done maybe 75 installs of Win98SE, and never had a problem. *shrug*
I'm sure my Mandrake friends will be happy to hear about this release, but I'll stick to Debian for now.

It's great to be able to overclock again without altering the PCI/FSB clock speeds.. I've got my Athlon 500 running at 800MHz, and it smokes. Some of these new Coppermines show good overclocking promise, but your shiny new AGP card is unlikely to work when you have your FSB up there at 150MHz.. Most of these Coppermine reviews are using unlocked engineering samples.. Nice benchmarks, but in the real world, you'll be setting your sound card on fire if you try them.

Since I wouldn't tolerate any lossy compression on my Quake3 video signal, that requires 1440Mbits/sec. That's 960 T1s per user.. For a decent game of CTF, the server would have to be a large cluster of powerful workstations, and have more bandwidth than the entire east coast of the U.S.

Our interface to our computers is, at best, 2D.. Keyboards input 1-dimensional data, and mice do 2D.. How would selecting a telnet client from my "inventory" be easier than merely clicking on it? The 2D GUI exploded because it allowed people to avoid learning complex syntax and rules.. Moving to a 3D GUI is not the same kind of leap.. It's just 2D that requires more complex interaction. If you need a network monitor that uses a 3D metaphor, why not just pop one up in a window?

  11. The Register on 1100 MHz 'Athlon Killer' Due From Intel in December · · Score: 2

If you look through the back-stories of The Register, you'll find that basically everything they've ever said has turned out to be a lie, or unproveable. I'd take this story, and the one about the 1GHz copper Athlons in January, with more than a little grain of salt. Also, those SpecINT numbers are much, much worse than even a P3 overclocked to the same speed would post. I think The Register can't even be bothered to lie convincingly.
