Telemetry, that's what is missing on a pure distro. I definitely feel safer if I know that there is a bigger entity that control my system and that can upgrade it without my saying anytime for my safety. Finally a Linux with advertising in the main menu....
I'd rather have governments that are less obsessed with weapons of mass destruction and that are looking to reduce their stockpile. That would give me more trust. I do not think that there is really anyone that is enough "qualified" to be in charged of such powerful monstrosity. Especially the ones currently in charge.
You trust your government with nukes ?!?! I guess coming from the only country in the world who ever nuked another one , it might make sense to you. Also for regulations; I do not now if you follow the news but your current government is working very hard to deregulate a lot of things. But do not wonder about what I mean just stay in your "trust" comfort zone ; everything will be fine.
This is the reason that I moved to Affinity designer and photo. Reasonable price and it won't stop working suddenly if you don't pay. I hate the subscription model. I understand why they do it, but as a dissatisfied customer my only voice possible is to buy alternatives. Affinity Photo is one of the best selling app in the Mac Store and I am sure that this is not estrange to the Adobe new model.
Am I the only one that get scared with that stuff ? I must be getting too old.
I used to think that S. Hawking was an alarmist when he said that AI might end mankind... Not so much anymore.

I agree with you; if there is recognizable patterns, that means that current encryption methods are not strong enough....
