I agree.. i watched verry little of the olympics this year and will watch even less for the summer olympics. And this really saddens me. I used to really enjoy watching the olympics and how everyone got together to watch and support the athletes... It has just been getting more and more commercialized that I can't even enjoy watching it anymore. Now the olympics are just one big commercial after the other. And please don't forget that they broke the tradition of holding the olympics every fours years, and why? why so they could capitalize on it twice as often of course.

*sigh* Who wants to start their own contry where there is no money but only a barter system of goods and services and if you produce neither a good nor are willing to provide a service you are exiled? :o)

    ***WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILERS******

I actualy just saw the movie last night. At the end I couldn't help but think to myself, there's going to be another one. And how typical of the comic book sequel with the vilan, of course, escaping from the insane asylum to do battle with his arche enemy. The movie was very well done imo, it felt a little slow in places but not necessarily to it's detriment. I actualy did notice and appreciated that the movie never really showed much "action," no unnecessary explosions or chases or fisticuffs except for bruce's fight at the end, but that fight was necessary for the, "he is a hero" picture we need to have for this movie to work, and of course for the sequels to work. btw... heh.. I couldn't keep myself from laughing at the "hanging of the cape" at the end.

  19. who's to say on Amazon Refunding The Overcharge Experiment · · Score: 1

that the experiment and the glitch are not related? Think about this, the original story states (paraphrased) "the difference between the price you paid and the lowest price offered" now.. if there were a "glitch" in the experiment that offered these prices to everyone on a couple of days, but normal prices on the other days of their experiment then, by their own statement, they would be refunding the difference between those 75% off prices and the rest of the orders placed on those items. Do you really think amazon is going to want to bite that bullet? I think they're trying to cover whats left of their a$$ as they watch their customer base dwindle like a pile of sand in a wind storm.

just my $.02 on that... on a seperate note... if you read the cnet article here amazon should NOT get away with this! If you walk into a store, see something priced for $20, take it to the register, it rings up for $20 and you buy it with your credit card. When the store realizes they had the wrong price for that item they, legaly cannot force you to pay what they feel was the correct price. Why should an online retailer be governed by different laws regarding prices, sales, bait and switch etc then a brick and mortar retailer?

  21. no different than going to see a movie on Kmart To Card Buyers Of Violent Games · · Score: 1

I may be wrong with current laws, but weren't movie ratings and enforcement originally (and I think they still are) a voluntary system? The ESRB ratings are also a voluntary system. If a movie theater won't let a 10 year old watch an R rated movie without a parent/guardian, I don't see that as any different from K-mart not selling Soldier of Fortune to a 10 year old without his parent/guardian. Quite frankly I don't see any problem with this at all. I'm not saying anything about whether or not violent games make violent people (I really don't think they do) BUT certain people, certain children, need a little more guidance than others. While my 10 year old nephew Jake may be well mature enough to handle Soldier of Fortune I would never let my nephew John, the same age, play it.

    Age does not equal maturity.

  22. Ever read the Real Audio EULA? on Examples Of Questionable EULAs? · · Score: 1

I not so long ago installed real player on my machine to check out a stream of a demo of a new game that was coming out. I don't remember the exact wording but what I remember that really ticked me off was that in the "basic" install of real player that i downloaded it "included" this freakin Download Daemon. I didn't have the option of NOT installing it if i wanted to install real player. upon reading the EULA for the download daemon (yes, on ocassion I actualy read the bloody things) It mentioned that the download daemon WOULD RECORD information regarding the download and transmit that information to real networks. Since i really wanted to see this stream I said, what ever, I'll just uninstall that after i install the player. Since then every time I log on a freakin "DD" icon appears in my systray and there are no options that I can find to uninstall JUST the download daemon. I can, thankfully, "Unload" the daemon by right clicking on the icon in the systray but every now and then when I d/l something through my browser the little F____ pops up to do the download. What really bugs me about this is that they included this Other, completely non-relevant piece of software with the player, and that software's sole purpose in my view is to provide real networks personal information about me, my computer and what i download and that i do NOT have the option of using/not using it if I want to use the player. The daemon is not integrated in any way with the player. Just my own little rant...
