  1. How useful is this really? on X-Server with Alpha Transparency · · Score: 1

Ok ok, I've seen one good use up there a ways on the page, but what else? Some way to eat up all those spare clock cycles I have lying around?

Similarly the transparencies in NT5 (I refuse to call it Win2k) really annoy me. The system seems soooooooooo slooooooooooooow while I wait for them to show up.

So is this one of those 'because it's there' hacks or is there some purpose in mind?

REW (win32, no link sorry check Emucamp) has excellent sound. Still very much beta but the coder seems to want an accurate emulator instead of a feature-cluttered one. No save states or cheats, but it sounds good.

  3. Re:Seriously, how bad would a preboot CD be? on Sega Supports Emulation · · Score: 1

Ah, but bleem! is 800k. When you run it, bleem! just reads some encrypted stuff off the disk (ever looked at it? It's got like 7 tracks, seperated by blank space. Those tracks show up as audio in all my cd players). It would live in the DC ram on boot.

  4. Re:Is the DC console fast enough? on Sega Supports Emulation · · Score: 1

But Bleem^TM for the Dreamcast console? Is it even fast enough to run PSX games at full speed? I'd think only PSX 2 has enough juice for that (binary compatibility is one of PSX 2's selling points).

Probably it is fast enough. The reason that bleem! on a Pentium II 233 sucks and psx games on the 4x33mhz run fine is timing. Your cpu has to pretend to be four seperate processors all at the same time. The DC would be able to do it, but it would be a LOT of work.

Actually the USGOVT cant sell anything like that to anyone. I live 40 miles from the Handford/Manhattan site and we can't buy the power from the site (which puts out something like 250MW i think). Instead we buy from the Dam (on the Snake river! NO DAM BREACHES!) ..

Have you ever even seen/created a PDF with ONLY text on it? A 4 page B&W newsletter is about 60k. Like 45 seconds even on a 14.4 modem. Are you going to say next that you can READ text faster than 5 pages a minute?

Ah, but those music people are performers, not musicians. A musician creates the music/lyrics/etc whereas these people just do what they're told. They're a face on some noise created (probably) by a cadre of monkeys with typewriters, or a random sentence generator.

a waste of electrons. When I hit back it doesn't load cached pages, it RELOADS them. 'Transfering data from ' is not enough information.

It's hard to use, very conuter-intuitive. I almost could feel sorry for any AOHELL user that tries it out.

It's also unbearably slow at rendering html.

This is garbage. Maybe the final will be better but I doubt it.

    I use Opera. Much better.
