Because that's how they have to do it. There are all sorts of SEC rules about using stock as employee benefits, to try to maintain some fairness in it all.
I love this in America... whatever you do don't reward the Great Performers, that's unfair because it makes me feel bad.
Get over yourself, life will never be fair.
Your post is exactly like the other guy that said it's unfair to those that do a half-assed job, the only difference is... he was actually making a joke, I'm very afraid you are being serious.
So, you clicked a link called Free Boobies, explicitely on the.nl domain where porn is look at differently (so safesearch works differently) and you expected it to be safe?
Microsoft gets approximately 1 Million of those messages a DAY. And that's just the ones where people actually click on "Send", considering that's a very low percentage... just start to think how many failures occur daily...

Yes, very true... I get so annoyed with programmers these days that think they are hot because they can program in one language. If you can't easily switch between multiple languages you are just stuck with a language, and you don't have the low level concepts figured out. A language is just that, a syntax to tell the computer how to do something.
Believe it or not, not everything in the world is best done in any single language, not Java, not C/C++, not VB, not C#/VB/ASP/.NET.
Because VSS isn't anything like CVS of Subversion, or even PVCS (that hunk of trash) for that matter.
It's a mid-size project type tool that is not designed for global teams to use. This entire article is about replacing CVS because of it's Security deficits...
Fact is, language should be irrelavent, it's just that a language. You can pick those up on your own, what you are learning is how to tell the computer to do things in a specific language, how you approach things should be relatively universal.
These days I see people that only code in 1 or 2 languages... That is not a developer IMO. As they say, if all you have is a Hammer, everything starts looking like a nail.
C, C#, Perl, C++, VB, Java, COBOL, Assembler, Atlas, HP Basic... they all do the same stuff, move data and numbers around, each is strong at different things, picking the right tool would be a nice thing to see these days...
You better start reading more... Console games have a lot of the same restrictions (no activiation because consoles suck at networking), and consoles have been cracking down on pirates too.
And a DVD? That thing has a million and one rules, no copies, no showing it to a bunch of people, private only, etc.
You think HL2 is different because you are ignorant of what you agree to everytime you buy anything.
Arcades are still VERY big in other countries besides the US. In London there are tons of 4 and 5 story arcades, each with a bar at either the bottom or middle.
In other countries they focused on the adult crowd, for some reason America missed the boat on that...
What in god's name made you think to drop the skimmer? It's sickeningly obvious based on how the levels are designed that you were supposed to keep it with you.
If you pre-purchased HL2 over Steam, there are no CDs involved... there are no CDs required for any of the HL games anymore, they switched from using the very annoying CD protection to using the very convenient Steam system.
You sir are ignorant. Hey, I bought this car and even though it had a big sign that said "MANUAL SHIFT" I was pissed that it wasn't automatic, so I returned it and went out and stole an automatic car.
You are the reason Valve needs to have copyright protection, you stand on your high ignorant horse and talk about "If I were in charge, everything would be perfect and everyone would buy my stuff and nobody would steal it"
You are the scumbag, Valve is a company that has been supporting a no-money-making game for the past 5 years with CounterStrike. Forgot that you haven't had to pay one penny to play it for the past 5 years??? Maybe they fucking deserve a little compensation, ok nitwit?

I use Fedora Core 2 + Mozilla as non-root, didn't seemed to have installed anything.
Exactly, the problem is with the government, not RedHat. Right now if you don't play in DC, you end up losing as a corporation.
RedHat didn't invent lobbying, they were just getting affected by it because MS and others were doing their best to scare politicins with FUD.

Parents have no rights to my privacy unless willed to them after I'm 18.
Perhaps he wouldn't want mom and dad finding out about his boyfriend?

Both...
Yes folks, this is our next generation... Scared yet?
CVS ties into pretty much any programmers IDE/Editor out there, usually as part of the stock config.
Oh, you mean it should integrate with Microsoft's tools? Yeah, that'll happen...

VSS isn't in the same league.
VSS is fine for small projects, but having a global distributed repository is not exactly it's thing. Which, btw is the whole point of this article.
And the new PVCS is better how? It's just as bloated, horrific and impossible to use in the latest versions as it was back then.
Schools don't generally teach languages...

Ah, but nice thing about steam, they will keep a copy of your CD Key, so you won't need to find it.
Technically, you can never resell software, this isn't new with Valve.
Read the EULA on any Microsoft software.

Yes, I had a corrupted game at one point, deleted everything and had it re-download, no issues.
And they are clear that unlike other games, you can have it installed on multiple computers, as long as you don't use them at the same time.
Steam allows them to allow you more flexibility, just like any license deamon that is on commercial software.

Wake me when Console games are actually not mind-numbing.
Even with GTA: SA, It's nothing like PC gaming... graphics, speed, etc. Consoles will always be low-class PCs.
Yeah, finished the game, was great.. but even more linear than HL2.
