One problem with porting is that those programs are dependant on X or a specific toolkit not available for AtheOS. Another is that AtheOS does not support Pthreads, but someone may port that library in the future for compatibility.
As they fail to mention, for every music quality blank cdr that is purchased, they recieve compensation. That is why "music" CDR's cost alot more than ones specified for data; this fee is also placed on blank cassette tapes.
Mandrake is into making polished linux distro's for Newbie users.
Mandrake releases buggy beta versions on their website.
Newbie uses download beta version and have major problems, and get mad at mandrake.
Bad descision guys.
You can probably get alot of plastic shelving from office depot/etc. which you can stack ontop of your existing file cabinates. If possible, try to get permission to hang items from the drop ceiling.
Actually, according to (I'd don't remember; was it Lovell in Lost Moon or The Right Stuff by Tom Wolfe?) you can't see it from space because it's the same color as the desert around it.
AsmodeusB: "Yes, bring in the children and other issues that are IN NO WAY RELATED TO THE DEBATE."
No they aren't, but technically, they are. The chinese have a "communist" government, where industry, commerce, and trade, etc. benefit the government as a whole, the one responsible for all the human rights violations that are not debated. In the scenario where the U.S. government would use a "carbon tax" to help curb our pollution levels, heavilly polluting industries would move to China, Mexico (also considered a "developing" nation by the Kyoto treaty), and other places where they would not be as heavily regulated as in the USA.
Would this decrease co2 emmisions? No, it might actually increase them. Personally, I do favor a treaty on reducing CO2 emmissions. However, a PER CAPITA level applied to all nations equally would be fairer, would result in less industrial migration, and might even be harsher on the United States.
However, not one of you have replied to the point that this will benifit communist china, yes the china that promotes infantcide, let's it's workers live in prison camps, and destroy their own environment with projects such as the 3 gourges dam and other industrial activity. My point is made!
After installing this, my hard drive got whiped out. Coincidence?

Obviously you haven't heard that the book is actually about and inspired by (as in disagreement with) the site freerepublic.com (notice the name- republic.com)
microsoft is really good with sending back rebate checks. the copy of office 2000 that i got for my mom's computer had a rebate, the check came in exactly a month
I have been trading mp3s and other files using irc for at least five years. If they take out napster and other file sharing programs, we'll still be.. and no one cares. IRC is faster, more realiable, and you can actually RESUME files. Just because a few happy windows kiddies can no longer trade files won't put a dent in the net.

Anytime anyone's slashdotted their server is crushed. Amazingly though, his is running AtheOS and Apache.
This just in: excite@home licenses technology to communist China to filter "copyrighted" (uh'um right...) material.
Another step towards big brother watching over our shoulders?

And they still complain??!!
Yes, but do all newbies know what the word BETA means?

actually it think that's how the CdC thing's going to work, except it will be a network of anonymous P2P proxies so they can't block the one server.

Of course it's delayed, but I hope they actually release it eventually.
Isn't it funny that they used to be running BSD over there?
I'd prefer to have something like konqueror or galeon for windows.
talking about k-meleon, what happened to it? i just read about today, but their site is down and i was able to get v.4 from sourceforge..
yet, kids have the spare time to learn it, something adults with careers and families don't have.
As soon I got broadband, it took a long time to get off MP3s, movies, and warez before getting back into developing.
no, you're not a nerd until you hit 23 hours.
Geez, don't these guys have real lives? ... wait a sec, I'm on /.
I don't care about the titles, as long as the movie doesn't suck. (Like all but seven seconds of episode 1)
Leave it to Lucas to ruin his movie empire in just a few years
