I was just going to assume you were someone running Mac OS X and thought it was slow, until I read some other posts on this subject made by a certain jchristopher...
you have no idea what you are talking about and you just look foolish for pretending.
Well, my employer has the exact opposite at his bank. He tried to login with IE and the banks website said that they do not trust his browser and suggested that he use Netscape 4.7
Well, since he was running OS X I told him to try it with Mozilla and alas, it worked flawlessly.
We both find it refreshing that at least one online banking system sees IE for the POS that it is.
You dirty motherfucker. You purchase a PS2 (no emulation involved, so obviously you or someone else spent somewhere beteen $199-$299 for the console), but you pirate GTA3 -- a game by Rockstar studios.
From you stupidity, Sony gains money. Rockstar loses money.
Asshole. If you cause GTA Vice City/GTA4 to be cancelled due to lack of revenues, I'll find where you live, run a fucking tank through your house, torch you with a flamethrower, then screw your mom in the back of my Stallion.
Sony loses money on every PS2 bought. The rest of your post is pretty damn humourous. (I know this will eventually be modded down and another chunk of my karma will be lost forever, but this AC post should be enjoyed by all)
The PS2 also has the best controller by far. (/me ducks)
I'll object to that. Owning both the PS2 and Gamecube I will say that both controllers are the nicest so far. But the best is Nintendo's Wavebird. You can't beat wireless gaming.
I actually know exactly how you feel. But like I said, it isn't news.
When System 7 was released all of the new Macs couldn't run System 6 (including the LC 475 I bought). Police Quest won't run properly in 7, so I had to keep my old Mac Plus.
Apple has always done this. I have a beige G3 300 at home. It is from 1998. I tried to install System 7 on it for kicks, and it reported that my computer can't run that OS. Get a newer Mac and try to install OS 8 and it won't let you. If a computer is shipped with a certain OS, you cannot install the generation below it. Recent computers are shipped with both OS 9 and X.
This is not news. It is how it has always been.

I don't mean to be flamed for this (although I know I will be), but USA is a democracy right? In fact, many on/. have been bold enough to say the BEST democracy in the world. A democracy is:
1. Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives.
2. A political or social unit that has such a government.
3. The common people, considered as the primary source of political power.
4. Majority rule.
5. The principles of social equality and respect for the individual within a community.
Now on that basis why do you feel that "every time the governemt decides to regulate something, the average person usually ends up getting screwed"?
It doesn't make sense. Either your government is that greatest in the world or they are sold-out money grabbing pigs. You can't have both.
Anonym1ty, I know you never said that the American government is the greatest, I'm just using your post as a point to other/.ers who have.
Flame on.

"never put your wireless net behind your main firewall"
So you are suggesting that you should have your computers wired to a firewall, that you in turn be connected to a wireless router/hub? That doesn't make much sense to me.
Quartz Extreme is doing something no other major OS vendor has done. It is a brand new feature. How does that make it "practically a bug fix"?
a fix for the super slow student project quality 2D engine
"student project quality"? Are you talking about the GUI that NO other company has been able to repeat? Seriously, I understand that your bitter about something here, but Aqua is FAR from a student project.
Okay, well, there are very few good musicans, so I'll stop listening to all music. There are very few good movies, so I'll stop watching any of them. There are very few good websites, so I'll stop going online. There are very few intelligent humans, so I'll just become a recluse.
Your argument is terrible. But that doesn't mean that I'll stop reading other arguments.
hence my disclaimer about reality...
In 10 years you will be talking about how any chip over 30 Ghz is fine, there is no reason to upgrade to the new 50Ghz.
If we only get 50GHz in ten years, then something is seriously wrong (Motorola syndrome?)...
My calculations are around 5 THz in ten years, well have 50 GHz in 2007-08.
-- all calculations are very rough and don't take actually reality (like transistor size and such) in to account --
*cough* troll *cough*

Well, Halo was shown at Macworld on a G4.
I know, different matter entirely, but it was just to prove that assumtions are sometimes wrong. And things can change.
hey, it was a monday and i was busy eating lunch... my mind wonders every now and then, sorry english police.
I'll trade you, all I have is a G3 300.... and its beige!
I'm so ashamed.
Actually, the only image that will show you a fan is the QTVR. Carefully look and you can see a giant fan right next to the heatsink.
Well, thats just it isn't it? The better the realtime graphics get, the better the rendered stuff will get.
And until everything my computer generates realtime looks like true organic material there will be this gap between realtime and rendered.
When did working flawlessly become a bad thing?
My point was that while Mozilla was accepted (which is good) and IE wasn't (which was funny, and a little relieving).
Sorry if you didn't understand.

You must be a blissful fellow (read: ignorant)....
RISC vs CISC is a concept of design, there is no set amount of instructions for either. Go back to computer science 101.
TerraSoft would never choose Mandrake over YellowDog... here's why. (Just read the title as to who makes YellowDog Linux.)

You still only use 640k right?
I think Apple customers are used to getting their bug fixes for free.
They are getting them for free. Jaguar isn't a bug fix.
I'm using a LaCie SCSI burner, with zero problems. Infact, it doesn't work under OS9 without Toast, but under OS X it performs flawlessly.
I don't know how or why, but it works great for me.
From what I remember, Apple said that they'll release one more version for Windows. So this looks like it's it for Wintel users.
