Wonder what the highest resolution is for visual anything. Like what resolution would be the highest needed to see the universe at its finest level ( I don't know how to phrase that question, anyone understand what I'm getting at?) like do you take the smallest known/theroized partical/bit of energy and and take it's size and then use that with the most dense you can make the substance and that would be the highest resolution needed to properly view the universe without lose. It wouldn't be possable to achive it but makes you think about how blury are we seeing the world/universe

You can put a 35 yr old manual lens on your new auto focus, but of course you have to manualy focus. You can't kill a good minolta, thats why so many pros use them. If I remember correct most National Geographic photophers run Minoltas. Nikons are very good. But they have got to a point where they sell at a higher price on their name. Not to say they are bad or anything. But Nikon and Minolta are dead even. I own cameras from both and like them equaly.

The IC engine is not that Horriable, a gasoline engine is about half as efficent as a fuel cell, a diesel is within 66 percent of a fuel cell.

Battery technology didn't just die, it died because there is a limit to batteries, WYSIWYG in battery tech today, its a simple matter of chemistry.

GM did not just kill the EV1 it was a huge flop, The only could lease them in three states since it was impractical in most states. In the time the program was run they only leased around 300 units. This was not keaping the program afloat which cost insane amounts of money. Also when it was found there was a design flaw in the charging port they had to recall the cars which lead to the final demise. For electric cars to work there has to be a large enough market, and the simple matter is there is no market. Also electric cars are impractical, they are not beificial to the Earth, in the big picture G.R.E.E.T. model things like a diesel car are better for the earth.

Also electric cars are still very complex, they have a small percentage less of parts. Yes the service aspect of cars is important to companies, especialy GM who designs cars to be hard to work on. But EV's still have service issues like Battery packs. Also having extremely reliable cars helps improve sales. You can't expect Auto companies to ditch current designs and go for things like EV's which the puplic does not want. Not everyone lives in the inner city driving a few miles a day. To make a normal car economicaly viable a car company needs to sell in the neighbor hood of 20,000 units a year. There is not the market for EV's to maintain this. The production EV's out there survive by being options from current models. Want an EV , buy a Electric Ford Ranger, Chevy S10, toyota Rav4, honda "something i saw in LA, don't know model" and others they are factory option packages. But are cost effective by reusing parts.

Also the fed does give universities money for such research, guess what the non-industry universities concluded EV's are not the way to go ether, hybrids are example www.futuretruck.org

if you want a EV's to happen, develope a energy storage devise that I can pull enough electrical energy out to power a 4 passenger car with nice features, and acceptable performance/safety for 500 miles and have this device be less than 2 cubic feet (IE box 2'x1'x1') In other words have then energy storage of a conventional cars liquid fuel tank.

42 volt is a standard for auto industry when they need more than 12 volts. Many mild hybrids have looked into 42 volt systems for intergral flywheel/starter/altenator setups. Also 42 volt is pretty standard for some components of EV's like power stearing. Part suppliers and the like work around this set voltage so they can work for differant companies and applications with out having to have massive amounts of DC-DC converters in the car.

Electric Vehicals and Real Hybrids (IE not honda insight) (But like toyota prius, ford escape HEV (fall 03)) use battery packs in the range of 144 volts to 300 volts to power systems such as the traction motors. Trying to power a 100kw motor at 12volts would cause problems in that the Amps would be far to large. As it is the power lines for these motors is 4/0 cable which adds weight in a car real fast.

also yes there is an efficency loss in burning fuel, but the loss in spinning the generator is very small. Also fuel cells do not have extreme high efficencies, they tend to be around 60% efficent, but this varries a great amount with the type of fuel cell O2-H2, direct methonol , etc Gasoline engine peak around 30% diesels around 40%

There was nearly no delay opening any app. The linux based PDA's were very slow opening programs even small ones. The overall feel of the device was very slow. This sealed it for me that I would not go with a PDA running linux. That and the only models I found running it were very expensive.

I know people with WinCE models and love them, and I found it to be very nice, though the price wasn't there, though much cheaper than the linux models. Also those I know with CE models have yet to have any problems. These computers could be better used building more CAD labs and such. But since the school dozen require students own a computer but does require access they must provide wich cost me money. The school now goes through continually replacing computers. this year they up graded to PIII everywhere. Also they keep infesting the place with the fucking iCraps and some G4's this really agrivates me since nobody uses them. I live in the dorms right now and on my floor of probly 60 students, maybe 5 don't have a computer. Some colleges do require students to have their own computer. One university i was informed requires all new engineering students to buy a PIII 550. and they don't give you any CAD software wich is the only thing that you would need such a thing for. 4 years ago is a long time in computers. Times change. and if you think that some people still can't aford one, look in the classifieds. All you need is a basic computer and a ethernet card. PI (thats right missing a few I's) is just fine. I used one for a while here. You can pick one of those up for the price of a few books. I presantly have a very nice computer and it was under $800. Bottom line. Nothing says you need to buy the most top of the line machine, you can by yourself a basic Emachine for a few hundered bucks and be fine. So any complants of students not being able to afford one is not very strong. A few hunderd bucks once compared to the total cost of 5 years of school is not a very much. In todays world you have to get familier with computers, having one stairing at you in your room 24-7 is a good start. As for downloading porn , mp3's and playing quake, well hey its practicing skills(take this sentance lightly) For those that hate computers maybe it can change their minds. Others can learn more from freinds and such. And for the porn. Well theres nothing wrong with that. Also we now have class that only exsist online. kind of hard to take that kind of class without a computer. Some may complain bout slowing do to napster but if there was no napster people would just find other things to bog the net down with. Such as more quake with less lag. Far as the calculator thing, we can't use them in math on test and such. Even thought their required for math. (figure that out) well the reason for that is a calculator can be good to help whne your stuck or unsure. We can use them in all other classes though, chem you can't have a grapher so no smugeling of knowledge. this is so we at some point in our life know how to do it without them. But since in the real world very few if had the option would chose the paper method over a calculator. I do think they should maybe use less of them in highschools. Nobody in my school had graphing calculators, my ti36x was the top dog. I learned how to do it the old school way. I come here and kids are going insane without calculators. but once you get the princibles learned there is no reason not to use them.
