I am not a programmer. I do understand that goto makes the line repeat, so when I said that it had no loops all I meant was that it didn't use more conventional methods such as do until and for loops. For me this was interesting because it just one line a code and it can do something interesting as in like David Ahl books. As a nonprogrammer (I only tinker in code on occasion) I find little snippets of code that do something interesting, even if its noise or chaos to you, interesting none the less.

I think storm was in it. When you see X using the cerebro for the first time you see a dark skin girl with white hair. She's a tween so of little use to the CIA/X-men.
Yes, in the 90s he finally owned a computer. He had to call someone because his computer was making a funny sound. The person explained that the sound was the disk drive reading the disk.
I read the book as a teenage and young adult. I noticed reading it that Gibson must have no experience with computers. I also found that part where written that well. I think its loved because ppl wanted to be hip about computers in the 80s and it been riding on that ever since.
I've wondered about that. from what I've seen of the culture I've not been impressed. largely it seems to be a lot of anti-social ppl full of themselves. Sad really.
I may have missed someone making this point but this says a lot about the gang he was with as well. For him to be in a gang must have meant they thought he was worth something. They should have known this guy was not very bright. Maybe hackers aren't as smart as they make themselves out to be.

Contract Later reads 'Don't bother killing yourself--the work and hazards will work to ensure you to see the Gods (or God) sooner than you think. :)'
Someone please rip his nerd card up. His license to geek should be no more!!
