  1. Re:Paging Darth Vader on Microsoft 'Ribbonizes' Windows 8 File Manager · · Score: 1

I use linux as my primary os, but I do concede that the ribbon has made regular users 'power users', insofar as formatting and bringing visual appeal to their documents. Its no coincidence that today when some1 sends you a document you can quickly tell that it was made with Microsoft office (in a good way)! If the ribbon can be used in the file manager to make users able/aware of different features/possibilities than the overall affect is going to be positive! And perhaps it will provide an interface for accomplishing things the seasoned linux user takes for granted in his/her terminal. God forbid the same thing can be done by your grandma in a few mouse clicks *GASP* And your back to turning your desktop into a cube to impress your friends.

  5. Protection... on Teachers, Students Fight To Be Facebook Friends · · Score: 1

As a teacher at a high school I was not allowed to be friends with students on fb (school policy), I even had to remove students I was friends with prior to becoming a teacher! It was for my protection and the schools. Once I left the school I was added by about 30 of the students who I could then accept. I think its a good idea not to add students, although making it a law is silly, especially since students and teachers would join the same groups (eg the name of the school group) and write on the wall to each other.

Im not M$ fan boy but this is not the case, at least not as a start up, some friends of mine are a startup and are using the services offered by http://www.microsoft.com/bizspark/ basically whilst you are strung for cash (m$ says first 3 years) they give you everything you need for free. And then once you start making money and are locked in to using m$ services you start paying, which is fair.

Well said! I'm a Christian so have my own views about game ratings, but I still think that it is way overdue for Australia to introduce R18+ games, no proven link to violence and reality is a large proportion of the country want the rules changed and a large proportion are indifferent. Parents should be responsible for what is consumed by their children, be it games, movies, music or otherwise.
