Why is this touted as a problem as soon as people are talking about developing for Android? Remember that it has been like this for decades on e.g. the PC. And in the 1980's and early 1990's it was even worse because of the number of different computer brands (Atari, Commodore (with two different computers), PC's and more.)
In the Ars Technica article about it they speculate that the "investors" just want to get rid of him so they more easily can sell off parts of Microsoft to make a quick buck.
This is something that really surprises me about the USA today. For a country that not only was settled by, but thrived on immigration and visitors, it now takes quite the opposite stance in that it wants to disallow as many as possible to enter the country.
You're mixing your audio solutions. ALSA and OSS are the drivers. aRts and PulseAudio are audio servers and APIs for applications to play sound if the don't want to use the drivers directly. And JACK is to chain multiple applications together in an audio-processing chain.
First I thought that it's nice, maybe they have some of the books I bought if the go back to the days of Amazon starting. Then I checked and I haven't bought any books since before 2006. I know that because the only entry in my order history the last years is from 2006, and it was some CDs.
All books I have bought have been using other email accounts, accounts I no longer have access to, or even remember. So no ebooks for me.
In Sweden there are roads with 120 km/h (ca 75 mp/h) speed limit. In Denmark there are roads with 130 km/h (ca 80 mp/h) speed limits. I'm sure there are other countries with other hight speed limits. And what about those parts (yes, only parts) of the German autobahn where there is no speed limit? Will all countries have to lower their limits?
Reminds me of my DVD of Mad Max (the first one). The default language tracks was dubbed American English! Even I, a non-native English speaker, understood the Australian perfectly once I changed to the non-dubbed language track.
The Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive seems like a better car. Not only does it look a lot better, it's a proper super sports car with 740 hp. Even Top Gear likes it!
Unless Abe has some unwisely-published rantings about the reestablishment of the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere stashed in his closet somewhere, this seems like the sort of 'controversial' that will lead to grumblings and not a whole lot else.
Well Abe may not personally have such plans, but you know what they say about politicians and slippery slopes.
So art imitating life, or life imitating art? Just saw the Futurama episode Forty percent leadbelly in which Bender takes a 2-D photo of a guitar, and gets it duplicated by a 3-D printer. Seems we are in the future already!
While no parsing is done on binary formats, they still have to be marshaled to avoid things like endianess problems. While most of the PC world is little-endian, all smart phones are big-endian.
This image might look cool, but it just shows the scale of the problems the Baltic sea have. Happens every year now, so it's barely written about anymore.
So, has anyone tried to play it?

In politics, left and right are very relative terms. What is left in the USA is right in Europe, for example.

I wouldn't call anything from a game, movie or TV-series "real-world".
Didn't they do that some years ago already? And having an ad campaign where they spray-painted sidewalks (and was fined for the "graffiti").
A real programmer would use butterflies!
I misread the title as "Intel Bay Troll Brings New Architecture and Performance To Atom", which didn't make much sense.
Or get a baby, and have no time at all for those things.
And finally we will end up like the planet Solaria, 1200 people spread over a whole planet, with millions of robots doing all the work.

In short, this is a stupid idea.
The problem with racial profiling in the middle east, is that everyone is the same "race". The profiling done by Israel is more religious than racial.
I thought one of the pro's of using "the cloud" was that these events would not happen, as you are no longer relying on a single datacenter?
If AWS is putting several "clouds" in a single datacenter, what's the use of AWS?
Eat less, exercise more.

Weird.
How do you know if it's unjust or not? Isn't that for a court to decide? Oh wait, they can't because he's hiding from the courts.

Little expensive though.

I do. I call it my daily gin&tonic.
