It's far enough in the future that people won't be expecting progress anytime soon, and when Congress pulls the funding for this in 3 years no one will notice. Let's file this in the large scrapheap of overblown "we're going back to space!" announcements.
For people like me who routinely have folders filled with thousands of images (some of which actually aren't pr0n, I promise), waiting for Nautilus to get around to rendering the window makes it pretty useless.
Which Kodak camera are you using? I use a Kodak EasyShare CX6230, and I've never had driver issues. I can plug it into a iBook and iPhoto recognizes it right away, and even other windows machines will treat it as a external drive.
According to the Herald, Macworld is scheduled for two weeks after the opening of the convention center. Given Boston's track record with large state funded construction projects, what do you think the actual chances are that the center will be completed within two weeks of their deadline?:)

What would happen if I walked into a car dealership, bargained a nice proce for my new Kia, and told the salesperson that instead of him getting a commission, I'm going to take that money as a rebate? Wouldn't that be stealing, or am I missing something here?
I found the rejection of mysticism and the heroic portrayal of man to be refreshing, but that's just because I'm a Rand junkie:)

I believe this is know as "killing the goose that lays the golden egg". There many other revenue streams open to the government, it isn't dependent on sales tax alone. The booming economy that a un-taxed internet helps sustain translates into greater income/excise/whatever tax revenues in the government's pocket.
The only truly intuitive user interface is the nipple. Everything else is learned.
