No, the Americans asked the Israelis to dig all the crap they can find on the Soviets. They found so much that the Soviets backed down.

Actually, US system is not entirely Imperial, just look at the difference between a British gallon (4.1 litres ) and an American one (3.8 litres).

I got a MB 13inch 3 years ago on the premise of great quality. When I got it, there was a dent on the optical slot. Within ONE year the track pad had to be changed twice. It was still under manufacturer warranty, so no problem fixing it. Within the following year the logic board failed, costing me few hundred dollars. After it came back from the shop, when you close the laptop shut, the lid was not flush with the base. A screw was not tightened properly. Another trip to the shop. For my first Apple product, I was quite disappointed.

I would like to comment on the jailbraking part. There seems to be confusion on what it means as opposed to unlocking. Jailbraking is usually only applied to the iPhone, in the sense that, since Apple keeps tight control on what apps you can install on the device, you set it free to install apps that are not approved by Apple. While unlocking means to set free your device from your phone service provider to use it with any carrier.

We need it to feed our billions.

No we don't. Crop rotation and the use of better seeds works much better and with far less pesticides and other toxic chemicals, notably in emerging markets.

Also, if there would be less waste, maybe the billions would not go hungry. Have you even heard of dumpster-diving? Where people would scourge big store dumpsters for perfectly edible food?
