    No, you did not. You are unfortunately one of the people who leech off the hard work of others, and expect everything for free.

    If you truly appreciate Loki, and truly wish them to succeed in bringing gaming to Linux here and now, then you would have bought a game or two from them.

    Leeches take and take, and give nothing back. Please, don't even talk with us about "Linux gaming", b/c you're not even a part of it.

    According to Precision Insight, DRI allows applications to access 3D hardware directly.

    Voodoo3/4/5 and I also believe Matrox have DRI drivers in X4.

    On my system, (Duron 800, 256MB, TNT2), Kohan runs great.

    I have noticed some crappy performance, however, when I was running Loki_Update in the background. I am not sure but it seems that if some other X program is in the background that is updated graphically (like Loki_Update progress bar) it will hurt the performance of the game. Try killing all GUIed apps that update often (xmms, etc) and see if you have the same issue.

    A default RH 7.1 Workstation install has firewalling enabled and no services running.. You can't get much more secure than that.

    Questioning their opinions is fine, and to be encourage, but personal comments are not. It's unprofessional, it takes away from the main topic of the discussion, and it's irritating.

    Dude, alot of us are really tired of the skript kiddie attitude some people here have. What's irritating is that people bash Redhat and there is really no good reason.

    They overlook any good Redhat has done and harp on anything they can to justify their elitism..

    F you. Why don't you do what the educational sector did and create your own network. Call it I3, and tell people that it's like the Internet, but nothing on it is free, ie all content must be subscribed to.. I'm sure people will be signing on by the thousands..

    These guys invited themselves to our party, they don't like the music so now they somehow feel that they have the right to change it.. How rude. If you don't like the music, then leave.

    If the Internet was what this guy wanted, then people wouldn't be on it. I'd be wondering how much it would cost me to get hooked up to something like guerilla.net..

    Bioterrorism poses some serious challenges to the would-be terrorist. It is technically extremely difficult and costly. In fact, it has been attempted befure (Aum Shinreikio had tried 5 bioterrorism and 4 chemical attacks before actually being marginally successful with the Sarin Gas attack in the Tokio subway). That money is precious to terrorist organizations and would be hard to come by.

    I hear what you're saying but you have stated in your comment that attempts have happened.

    Ok, so if it has happened before, why won't it happen again? You can't just say "well, I think it's too expensive for terrorists (none of which I know anything about) to use biological weapons to attack an enemy. That's about as bad as saying "Well, most terrorist groups don't have much money, so the chances of them buying nuclear weapons is slim, so let's not even consider the chances of someone trying to nuke New York.."

    If there's a chance of something happening, and the consequences are dire, then it's worth shielded from it.

    The russians don't like it. The chinese don't like it. The europeans don't like it. Most other countries don't dare say much. The US won't be happy before they can nuke the rest of the world to hell (done), and not the entire rest of the world could hit them back if they tried (on it's way).

    Your argument reinforces the notion that the US does in fact need a missle defense system. You hate an entire populous based on their geographic location - perhaps a certain dictatorship feels the same way as you do.

    Remind me to invent a virus that could kill off all americans.. might be kinda hard though, with all the races involved. I'll look for genes containing self-centered, paranoid, arrogant and megalomanious behavior, that should do it.

    If you don't like the US, leave. If you don't live in the US, then don't buy our goods. If you don't like US news, then don't read US news.

    Anyway, I hope you stay very bitter while reading this American owned geek site, reading mostly American comments, on the American Internet, using your American computer, which is probably running an American OS (unless it's Linux, which is a clone of an American OS, but Linus lives here anyway, so it may as well be American.)

    In a few contries I visited, the concensus was these fast food outlets were catering more to tourists than locals.

    I don't see how this can be true. I seriously doubt there are that many American tourists in a city to justify building X McDonalds. I think you are in denial here.

    For my money, I'll still go to the local joints where I'm actually waited on and can choose real food.

    Most people I know would take an actual restaurant over a fast food place any day. I know I would as well. Congrats on your individualism.

    Anyway, I don't buy your theory that American products will be purchased in foreign lands even if the locals don't want it.

    Solaris is in use mainly as a server operating system at the moment

    Just in case you didn't know, there are still plenty of Solaris desktops being used by the US. govt. I think it's a great idea that Sun is trying to give their current (and potential) customers a functional, inexpensive, and hopefully standard desktop.

    So while you think Sun should completely ignore the desktop market, I don't and apparently someone at Sun doesn't either.

    How do you know what the author intended?

    Noone forced the author to use the GPL.. He could have used BSD or LGPL but that's besides the point.

    The original author's choice was the GPL, so it is only right that a company comply with the GPL.
    If the company's product cannot legally use GPLed code then they are free to write their own code.

    In the eyes of future investors, (especially the recent promises by former Eazel employees to continue work on Nautilus despite the company closing) this company rose from the Open Source Movement, developed a tool using their money , then dissolved back into the movement, taking the product of their investment with them. In the eyes of the media and the investors,

    I think that you are the only one who sees it this way, maybe because you're being paranoid. I think most investors will see this no differently than any one of the other million or so companies that failed for whatever reason.
