Well just because all the phones have problems, doesn't mean that apple wants to strive to be better. What if the head of the OSX group put out a product as bad as Windows Vista? Should he not get fired because hey, Vista has problems too.
Obviously not if Apple themselves were to go out and tell their customers that there they should keep buying OSX because Vista has issues too. Really what they are saying is that this product has flaws so bad they will fire one of their most senior engineers, however it is good enough for it's customers.
Even if that's true it certainly wouldn't have been a directed US assassination that took him out. The white house and military press would have had a field day over that considering the fuss they made when Saddam was finally caught.
The real worst is that a lot of those CPU eating flash applications are omnipresent ads.
But everyone is pushing HTML5 as a replacement, at least Flash is easy to block, though I'd prefer HTML5 on the basis that it's an open standard. The resources requirement stems from people wanting richer browsing experiences and until we have a 'scalable internet' (which is unlikely to happen), content developers creating low and high resource versions of their sites (more likely given the old days of low and high bandwidth websites) or developers catering for the lowest common denominator (unlikely) mobile devices will always suffer performance issues because that level of interactivity is just difficult to produce through a universal, platform-independent (hardware, not OS) framework on low-power devices.
The US government has the capability to capture or kill anybody anywhere in the world if they become an armed combatant.
So they don't consider Osama bin Laden an armed combatant? The US government doesn't have the capability to kill shit, unless they use a sizable explosive...the sort of thing you don't need to be terribly accurate with anyway.
There are plenty of nicely designed Flash sites (though a pure HTML approach would be nice), but should we accept a Flash application max out a CPU
Why do you assume the HTML version would be better? From what i've seen of the benchmarks Flash performs much better than HTML5. Also in this age of multi-core CPUs who cares if a website thrashes one of your cores. These days we're moving to dual-core ARM chips in mobiles - where you don't do that much multi-tasking anyway - and many-core chips in desktops. If it thrashes one of your CPU cores then so what? Especially if it can't be done any better in HTML5 anyway.
I'd say you're right on that, no-one would develop apps for a platform if you had to give away all your IP rights, particularly large firms with teams of lawyers that vigorously protect anything even resembling IP.
No it is not. The statement is based on factual, financial reports and a bit of analysis.
Of course it is, and it's obvious - unless of course you fail to understand the meaning of the word 'dubious' - in the use of the word 'many', that is totally unspecific.
X is a replacement for Y. This is because Y sucks, everyone who has any interest in the matter or who has ever used Y knows about the many flaws of Y
So email sucks and everyone who has ever used email knows it? No, that's incorrect.
Moreover it still doesn't explain what X is, and in this case, why anyone should care. Clearly most people didn't care since most people have no idea what wave is.
Currently Apple users are not paying any price despite having a very popular mobile platform that every now and then has well-publicised vulnerabilities. Hmm.
You misread (odd since you quoted the text as well). He said 'Apple', not 'Apple users', and it is very well known that Apple do not like jailbreaking.
So, in an effort to provide a superior product that can charge twice as fast from a wall charger, but won't fry your computer by drawing too much power from it's computer port, Apple put some logic in the iPhone and some corresponding resistors in their charger.
Or, naw, you're right, Apple just wants to charge everyone for everything...
Everyone's so excited about how easy this jailbreak is, the tech blogs are neglecting to report the problems with the current jailbreaks. Homescreen bookmarks no longer work on any iOS 4 devices after applying this patch.
What other problems are there? Facetime and mms were fixed and i haven't seen your issue crop up on any of my friends' devices.

Bin Laden is dead.
Even if that's true it certainly wouldn't have been a directed US assassination that took him out. The white house and military press would have had a field day over that considering the fuss they made when Saddam was finally caught.

>Macs have a failure rate, according to Consumer Reports, of 19% per year.
[citation needed]. How is Consumer Reports obtaining their figures?
Seems it's not just consumer reports.
The actions are that jailbreaking is not specifically blocked by Apple, as it could be.
Bullshit, show some proof of how apple can stop jailbreaking altogether.
End of story.
Nice lame attempt at authority. It's not 'end of story' just because you make baseless comments.
Apple's actions show the actually support jailbreaking, as opposed to public bluster.
Yeah, they tried to make it illegal and void your warranty if you do it. Real supportive actions there.
I'd say you're right on that, no-one would develop apps for a platform if you had to give away all your IP rights, particularly large firms with teams of lawyers that vigorously protect anything even resembling IP.

One of the larger figures in the movement said Apple could stop jailbreaking any time they want to, if they were serious about it.
Nice random statement. The actions of the company show otherwise.
Apple likes having a small lab where they see what people do with a totally open iPhone
Another random statement based on nothing.
If you really think about it, you can see that any Apple dislike of jailbreaking is a show.
Why? Because you say so? Jailbreaking phones leads to piracy and security issues, both are bad for apple's model.
In any case it doesn't change the fact that your post was based on your misreading of the one you replied to.
What price?

iOS is the biggest mobile operating system player right now
bullshit!
Wave is google's replacement for e-mail.
"x is a replacement for y" isn't a valid way to explain what x is or why anyone should care.
At the very least, it would have to be "trespass against chattels".
Wrong. trespass to chattels is only actionable if actual damage can be shown

But that's part of the micro-usb standard.
Do you really think any court of law would take the jailbreakers side in this?
Court of law? What are you going to charge them with?
Although they have permission to 'try' the product, they most certainly are not given permission to install software.
I've never seen that anywhere.
Everyone's so excited about how easy this jailbreak is, the tech blogs are neglecting to report the problems with the current jailbreaks. Homescreen bookmarks no longer work on any iOS 4 devices after applying this patch.

Ah so it's no longer a wipe...it would be nice to have the choice of one or the other (actually or both).
al-qaeda exposed a zero-day vulnerability in airport security...they aren't terrorists, they are 'security researchers'.
Current iPhones (and the 3Gs) encrypts the whole storage, which is why you can remote wipe them instantly
What's the encryption got to do with the ability to wipe the data?
They only have to cater to the needs of their target customers, not their current customers. They obviously don't want you as a customer anymore =(
IF i have to RTFA then what value is a summary?
Because a summary - by definition - does not go into the specifics of the prose it is summarising.
I am the customer, they need to cater to my needs, not their wants.
They cater to the wants of the majority userbase. They don't have to cater to your needs.
