Exactly. What is laid down in international law is what sovereign nations agree to sign. The Un as a body is just diplomats.

It is becoming less relevant. Still it is bad that Microsoft does not disclose the source code of its applications. That means thousands of unfixed security vulnerabilities that otherwise would be found.

But the problem is that Xpenguins, the most important application to convince your girl friend of Linux does not work with Kwin. So indeed, Linux on the Desktop is a completely lost cause unless these basic features remain unfixed by the KDE team. On the other hand XPenguins works fine with CDE.

The OECD is not the UN, it is an international body http://www.oecd.org/about/membersandpartners/ The situation is that the OECD monitors elections all over the world, now they come to the US, a nation which set it up with the Europeans and tasked the OECD to monitor third world elections, and uneducated rednecks bully the diplomates and damage the international reputation of the United States, undermine their credibility and diplomatic weight. That is quite embarassing for the US.

Elop as a trojan horse opened the gates of the Finnish company To Microsoft. He apparently wasn't aware what the Finns do to quisling. The story is: Microsoft has to get its own Zune phone because no one wants to sell their stuff voluntarily. So they will issue their own phone and seek to subsidize it. The good news is that Windows phone may become open source in the lights of the competition. It becomes increasingly important for governments.
