  3. Time Warner on Disconnecting · · Score: 1

    I've had some bad experiences with Time Warner for disconnects.

    The first incident had to do with cable. I started receiving past due notices, but I had never received a bill! Even more bizarre is that I NEVER ORDERED CABLE SERVICE. My fiance called about the problem and the service rep insinuated that I had ordered cable with out discussing the matter with my fiance.

    I called and they told me there was a service rep in my apartment on a particular date. I was home that day, ALL DAY, since I had just moved in and there was no one there. They said I had signed work orders when that tech was in on that day. I asked for copies and then they magically changed their story. Now, it appears as though I was the victim of the "office only" connection. This means that since cable was already in place at my residence all they had to do was start billing me. That would have been fine, HAD I ORDERED THE SERVICE.

    Now I need to cancel my cable internet service with them. I called them and they told me that they don't know how to cancel the service. HOw can they not know how?! They said they didn't know how I should return the cable modem since my account is a "bulk account". My apartment complex pays for my roadrunner as a first year bonus. Luckily my aparment complex has outstanding customer service and told me to give them the equipment and they will take care of it. What a pain!

    I am pretty sure the DVD spec does include p&s on the fly but few early players implemented it correctly. Studios then don't produce p&s on the fly movies because it wouldn't work on a large number of machines.

    One of the replies says they want to watch the movie and not zoom and pan with visual cues on the screen. I think the parent was trying to say that it should be done by the DVD player - not the DVD player directing you to do this!

    Why do so many people seem to think that humans are somehow special. We are just animals that live on earth just like any other animal. Suppose elephant dung was radioactive and there was a large poulation of elephants. Whatever effects that dung had on the earth would that then be unnatural? Why do people seem to think that everything we do is unnatural? Something that is "natural" occurs in nature. Guess what? I have NEVER escaped nature - ever, and no one has.

    I am scared of what the US is doing. I am a US citizen. I imagine myself as someone in a another country and I would be worried that the US will use this "war on terrorism" as an excuse to attack any country it wants. And that is exactly what I am afraid the US is doing. The other super powers will not stand for that and eventually they will fight the US if they think that is where it is heading...and I would support those countries. Not because I am not a patriot, but because I will never support something that I feel is wrong.

    with a path of
    PATH=/usr/bin

    Just because MS has this market share doesn't mean that it is *the* 3d API to use. Sony probably sells the most component receivers out there but that certainly doesn't mean that it is the best choice.

    There is no reason why openGL couldn't be used on windows. You might just have to prive a recent openGL dll. Same goes for java.

    I will say that it might be easier to use the solutions that MS pushes (shoves) - but that doesn't make it better.
