This won't matter... UNLESS we spread the word. We can't count on the mainstream media (owned by the **AA) to give people real information about this. We need to spread the word. If you're too lazy, at the very least just tell it to a few people. Print off the ACTA document, circle important parts, hand them out. Do your part. This doesn't just apply to Americans.
It's more than the plants it's what the potential product could weigh out to after harvest as well, and that fell clearly within federal drug trafficking laws.
Uh, the output of six plants could easily be way under federal trafficking laws. Either way, the Federal ban on Marijuana is illogical, immoral, counter-productive, and hypocritical.
Game demos are like crack. If the game is good, you get one hit and then they know they can get $60 for you while you're chasing the dragon and the DLC will come later.
He has to *resubmit* it? What, do they delete them after they reject them? That seems odd.
Probably so that they can say that the second application was slightly different and/or more appropriately reviewed. If they just change their minds, it would be a blatant acknowledgment that they "screwed up" or whatever.
If that porn involves schoolgirls getting raped by tentacles, then yes, I would be afraid of getting caught.
Drawings of schoolgirls getting raped.
There's quite a difference. Unless you think they abduct actual schoolgirls, and octopuses, to use them as models.
I have no problem with the drawings. All I am saying is that if I had that kind of pornography in my web history, I would not want the public to see it attached to my name.
I didn't read anything in the case about Raich violating California's medical limits. In fact, only six plants were destroyed, which I believe to be within the limit (at that time). If she was trafficking it, she should have been charged with trafficking marijuana. If she grew more than the state allowed, the state should have prosecuted her. From what I have read, the court ruled the way they did based largely on the "wheat" case decades ago. You know, the basis for twisting the Commerce Clause into the "Federal government can do whatever the fuck it wants Clause."
Hopefully, but we're up against huge corporations, a Federal government that wants to maintain the power they have and is seeking more power, "think of the children" arguments, and typical puritan bullshit.
I'll be calling the ALA in my state and speaking to them about this. I guess I'll have to dig up some information about what they've been saying so they can't lie to me without me knowing. It'll be nice to inform them that I am friends with several drug addiction counselors who would love to hear the shit they're pulling.
Er... my cousin (an American) owns a company that sells electronic cigarettes. I know their manufacturer is from China, but they are currently searching for an American manufacturer.
The Case you're referring to was a commercial wheat farmer growing wheat for his own consumption IN ADDITION to the commercial wheat. Dude swore up and down that his commercial plot was in accordance with federal standards (it was) and his private plot was for his own consumption (so far as anyone ever proved, that too was true). - He still got fined because the privately grown wheat still affected his commercial sales.
This has been used as precedent to allow the Fed to regulate entirely non-commercial agriculture across the States, but the legal status of doing so is still disputed. See, Fed vs. States battling about home-grown Marijuana.
Generally, stuff grown for personal use is regulated by state laws. The Feds will take interest if you make a nuisance of yourself, but otherwise you don't have to worry.
SCOTUS ruled in the '00s that a Californian medical marijuana patient growing for her own use was violating Federal laws and affecting interstate commerce. Face it, unless enough Americans wake up in time, we're all fucked.
NO THEY SHOULDN'T!!!! If you live in the USA and feel this way get out or get shot!
I despise people who believe that the government should dictate what can go in our bodies. However, you must remember that this is the United States of America. We have free speech, and we should never tell people to leave our country for utilizing their right to it.
"I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it."
That's how it used to be in America, back when our factories were thriving. Americans had the choice, and they chose cheaper, crappier mass-produced goods from China over higher-quality but more expensive goods produced in our own country.
I wouldn't mind this. I would, of course, still buy goods manufactured in countries I consider our allies, such as the UK. Sadly, due to an apathetic and ignorant society, a Congress driven by campaign contributions, and short-sighted corporations, we are now somewhat dependent on China and other unfriendly nations.
One thing I've come across lately are users who use IE or FF to store all passwords, but then never turn on a master password, a simple script and boom, you have a huge TXT file with passwords at your disposal, I'm sure there is already malware that focuses on this.
I'd seriously like to know. If they honestly believe piracy is hurting their business and that their data is sound, they should put it on their taxes as a business loss.
The IRS will sort it out.
Where did I say make a call? I said "quickly using my phone while I am stopped." This normally entails checking for any missed calls or text messages and sometimes sending a quick message if I have time. I am always very good about paying attention to the lights (I try to watch traffic and I know when my light is about to turn green when I see cars stopping). If you genuinely think people are pulled over for "distracted driving" on a fairly regular basis (outside your area), then you are wrong. I have never seen or heard of this happening. I frequently see people driving distracted. Are you from the UK or something?
Shitty drivers will stay shitty, and they will stay on the roads. OTOH, when I pull up to a red light I have to worry about getting a ticket for quickly using my phone while I am stopped OR while I am driving down a highway with little traffic. Somehow I'm allowed to eat, talk to people in my car, smoke cigarettes, change clothes, change the song on my iPod, etc. Obviously while you're driving through a city you shouldn't be using your cell phone though.
Most of my time in public school was a complete waste from the education point of view. I learned how the world works (cheating, lying, etc), I learned social skills, and I observed things around me. Public school is not about education. It is about training. Go from point A to point B within X or we'll do Y. Seriously, the bell rings and the sheep rush to class. It reminds me of a corporate setting. I remember being punished for working on other classes during class time even though I was finished with the assigned material. When I said this, I was given more work. Once I was in high school my grades dropped (was about a 4.0 student before), and I literally learned nothing from my teachers. I would just read the books on my own time (quiet settings), ace the tests, and cheat on the pointless busy work. Now that I'm in college my GPA is back up to ~4.0.
So I can now get stuck behind seniors who are FLYING.

The MAFIAA must be wondering why they haven't done this yet. "Why waste time in the courts guys? Why lobby politicians?"
By far the funniest quote in this story.

Don't blame the government for all you problems.
Um, what?

It is probably because it is owned by a Chinese company, AFAIK. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_cigarette#History

There is. It's called istealer.

Getting good grades != Learning

Obama and Bush are both industry owned; both can be compared to Mussolini, except the planes are never running on time.
It's called sales tax retard.
